J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons is the ultimate style crush.
In the wake of Lyons announcing she would be leaving her post as creative director and president of the All-American brand after 26 years with the company (*sob*) the silver lining is we can use this excuse to take a look back at her impeccable and often unexpected style.
The beauty of Lyons’ approach is she can take something preppy-casual (like a chambray shirt) and pair it with something runway-esque, like a full sequin skirt or a pair of silk tuxedo pants. Bringing this unique aesthetic to J.Crew in 1990 as a designer, she is credited for turning the brand around when she became head of womenswear in 2003.
According to BoF, Lyons will see out her current contract until the end of the year. J.Crew’s current head of women’s design, Somsack Sikhounmuoung will be promoted to chief design officer. There is no word as of yet what Lyons will do post-J.Crew.
With news of her impending departure, we reflect on some of Lyons’ most iconic style moments to date.
