Fashion Quarterly editor Sally-Ann Mullin will join director and designer Benny Castles and international model Georgia Fowler on the Project Runway New Zealand judging panel this September on TVNZ 2.
If this iconic style trio wasn’t enough to set fashion fans’ hearts racing, senior lecturer in fashion design Andreas Mikellis will also take up Project Runway’s mentoring role, offering support and advice to the show’s 14 hopeful designers.
Sally-Ann Mullin started her career in television and film costume where she worked for more than a decade. Returning to television – this time in front of the camera – Sally-Ann will be using her expertise and sharp eye from her role as editor of Fashion Quarterly magazine.
Sally-Ann says: “This show will give viewers the opportunity to see what really goes on behind-the-scenes in an industry that seems glamorous, but also involves a lot of blood, sweat and tears on the road to success.”

When he was just 18 years old, Benny Castles started working on the shop floor of WORLD as a sales assistant. Now, Benny is a director and designer for the very same company, a similar career that the show’s aspiring designers dream of having one day.
Benny says: “Fashion is such an important part of my life and it is a pleasure to be able to share that excitement with a much greater audience who will be treated to extraordinary creativity from episode to episode.”

Each week a guest judge will also join Benny, Sally-Ann and Georgia to decide who will leave the competition.
AUT University senior lecturer Andreas Mikellis will be working closely with the designers each week, offering advice on what the judges want to see walking down the runway. With a background in the international fashion industry in womenswear and menswear, styling and as a fashion academic, Andreas’ feedback will be invaluable for the designers.
Reflecting on his Project Runway experience to date, Andreas says: “It’s been an absolute joy to work with the designers, they are an amazing group of people, creative and inventive.”
