Top Cats

Fashion editor, writer and illustrator Grace Coddington is renowned for the cats she sketches so charmingly. Now she has created a line of accessories reprising her imaginary menagerie for fashion icon Louis Vuitton. “The collaboration has been so much fun,” says Grace. “It started with our love for animals – it’s where [creative director] Nicolas and I really connect beyond fashion.”

Diamond duo

Walker & Hall have collaborated with illustrator and creative consultant Kelly Thompson to launch two limited edition jewellery collections and a one-off six-carat diamond ring centred by a stunning six-carat fancy diamond in 18 carat yellow gold. Each range features a pair of earrings, a necklace, bracelet and ring. The first collection, titled #70 for the decade of inspiration, is available in sterling silver and gold, and has been designed as feature pieces you can dress up or down for day or evening wear. The circular forms and graphic lines create an elegant, timeless appeal. The second collection, #20, celebrates the glamour of 1920s art deco. With 18-carat yellow gold and rose-cut black diamonds throughout the collection, the standout piece is the bracelet with 12.34 carat of black diamonds. “It has been extremely collaborative and a highlight of my career,” says Kelly. “I can’t wait to see people wearing the jewellery.”

SO/ Hotel comes to Auckland

International luxury lifestyle hotel brand SO/ is opening in Auckland with renowned Kiwi fashion innovators WORLD as the signature design partner.  Each SO/ hotel is an artistic vision brought to life by celebrated names from the world of fashion and design. In Mauritius there is Mr Kenzo Takada; in Bangkok Christian Lacroix; Viktor&Rolf in Berlin; and in Singapore, Karl Lagerfeld the emblem creator.  In Auckland WORLD brings the same spirit of extravagance and boldness. Whether it’s sipping cocktails at the rooftop bar HI-SO with views of the Waitemata or dining at Harbour Society, the in-house restaurant helmed by French chef Marc de Passorio, this is a piping hot destination.

Ingrid Starnes’ Stars Crushing Out collection is one to shop

While designing her SS18 collection, Ingrid Starnes was reading David Bowie: A Life written by Dylan Jones. As a result, the range is aptly named ‘Stars Crushing Out’, after Bowie’s 2013 track The Stars. “[I was]…thinking about the nature of an artist that kept challenging and redefining himself, reflecting on the passing of people that are symbols and special and complicated. Stars is a song that touches on a few of those feelings,” says Ingrid. Ingrid Starnes silk top, $299 (left), and linen overcoat, $599 (above). Visit ingridstarnes.com.
