FQ.CO.NZ gets the first look at the confirmed list of designers taking part in this year’s New Zealand Fashion Week.

Forget counting down to Christmas, in the FQ office we’re counting down to something so much better: New Zealand Fashion Week.

With just 27 sleeps until the shows kick off on Tuesday August 25, we’re thrilled to give you the first look at the labels that will be gracing the runways of NZFW this year. With 85 local and international designers and exhibitors involved, it’s set to once again be the key platform to preview the winter 2016 collections that will arrive in stores early next year.

Kicking off the week is Wellington label Twenty-seven Names, known for their playful, masculine/feminine print-heavy mix and club-banger show soundtracks.

Cementing the launch of its first boutique two weeks ago, our pick for the one to watch will be the Contemporary Salon show by the elegant, forward-thinking Harman Grubiša.

Emerging designer Lucilla Gray is one of the newest designers on the list to show and we are keen to see how her innovative print and modern shapes will translate to a runway presentation.

NZFW stalwarts Nom*D, Zambesi and the previously announced recipient of the Mercedes-Benz Presents accolade, Kate Sylvester, are all again on the schedule this year.

Stolen Girlfriends Club’s off-site evening show will no doubt be a hot ticket, having previously presented its irreverent, sexy and cool men’s and womenswear in previous locations like a Speedway track, underground carpark, Mercury Theatre, Working Men’s Club, DHL depot and more, providing talking points for years to come.

Speaking of hot tickets, Fashion Quarterly is very proud to be playing host to an incredible runway roster of designers in the Fashion Quarterly Presents show, and you can be there! Visit iticket.co.nz to buy your ticket to see Helen Cherry, Juliette Hogan, Miss Crabb, TK Store and Zambesi present their designs on the Fashion Week runway at 3pm on Sunday, August 30.

Moving her spot from the industry-only section of the week to the public NZ Fashion Weekend, Trelise Cooper closes out the week on Sunday evening, no doubt with a bang, a fabulous backdrop, show-stopping sequins and extremely high heels.

The public NZ Fashion Weekend is also back with designer shows, the popular makeup technique classes from MAC and Smashbox and the must-attend Designer Pop Up Sale.
