Karen Walker’s females for spring 2015 were posh, society gardeners who blurred the line between functional and formal attire.
Garden People, the collection shown at NYFW today, celebrated the work of photographer Valerie Finnis, who chronicled green-thumbed English women after World War II until the 70s.
This translated into old-fashioned botanical prints and loud creeping florals on the runway, mixed with robust fabrics like denim and suede and topped off with straw hats and head scarves.
And we can’t ignore the overwhelming psychedelic 60s/70s vibe weaved through the show, with bright orange swirls and wide-legged pants.

The collection will be available in New Zealand from February 2015.
