Everything about this gorgeous gown was reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour.
Emma Stone’s floor-length beaded Givenchy gown, which the actress wore to this year’s Academy Awards, was a stunning reminder of old Hollywood glamour at its best.
Fittingly, Stone took out the award for best actress for La La Land – a movie which pays homage to Hollywood’s golden era – looking every inch the modern screen siren.
Now the star’s stylist has revealed exactly what it took to create the “beaded wonder”; a gown so intricately detailed, it required a dedicated team to create.
Stone’s stylist, Petra Flannery, told People 11 people worked on the gorgeous Oscars dress for 1,700 hours to hand-sew the lace creation that was encrusted with crystals and layers of beaded fringing.

The dress was the final couture commission by designer Ricardo Tisci before he left the fashion house last month.
“It’s a beaded wonder,” Petra said describing the dress. “When you see it up close it’s a marvel of various golden colours, shapes and sizes.”
Flannery also revealed Stone fell in love with the dress the moment she saw the sketches.
“The beaded fringe was the clincher.”

Despite the star originally envisioning the dress in silver, over the course of the creative process she was swayed to gold, a colour, the stylist said that is so complimentary to her fair skin and auburn hair.
Not long after Emma stepped up to accept the top accolade, Flannery reminded us all of this fun fashion fact via Instagram: “The first woman to win an Oscar wearing @givenchyofficial since Audrey Hepburn!”
