Serendipitously, Eden Bristowe’s first cover came out the week of New Zealand Fashion Week. On the cover of the spring issue of Fashion Quarterly and one of the most booked models on the runway this week, her star is on the rise.
The 16-year-old from Taranaki flew to Morocco in June for two editorials in Fashion Quarterly and, although she got what’s known as Fatima’s Revenge for a day, was an absolute professional.
One thing’s for sure, she’ll be busy as designers require a three-hour call time prior to each show so they can get their models ready and prepare their hair and makeup looks. As Bristowe, is heavily in demand her agent and owner of 62 Models, Andrea Plowright says “Because Eden is booked back to back for so many shows sometimes she can only give an 1.5 hours.”
To get by at NZFW, Bristowe says she always ensures her mobile is charged and that she has a portable charger in her bag, along with a bottle of water.
“I always have my agency 62 Models on speed dial in case anything else crops up on my chart.”
She’s just flown in from Sydney, where she’s been working every day for the past fortnight, but finds time to take us through her busiest day during NZFW:
6am: Wake up. I always set my alarm for 6am. Then I set out what I’m going to wear for the day. Normally I wear jeans; I love my Dricoper jeans, my AS Colour T-shirt with my favourite vintage coat. I like to be comfortable so that means my Ruby boots because I walk everywhere. Once this decision has been made I have a shower. I prep my skin keeping it natural so no makeup or nail polish.
6.45am: I have breakfast, which is muesli and yoghurt or a hard-boiled egg with toast.
7am: Leave my flat at 7am for location.
8am: This is my call time for my first show on the Tuesday which is NOM*d.
11.30: Then after NOM*d I will race to the New Generation show which has a start time of 1pm.
1.30pm: Then onto Underground show for a 3pm start.
4.30pm: From there I head to hair and makeup for the Stolen Girlfriends Club show which is on at 8pm.
8-10pm: Each night I probably won’t get home until 10pm so they’re long days, but I love it. Shows are so exciting and it’s so good to be home before I take off for Europe and do the shows there.
