Arm yourself with the right products to fight dry winter skin.

dry winter skin
Cold, blustery days and hot, stuffy heated offices – it’s no wonder our skin suffers during the cooler months. Just like what we eat and wear changes during winter, so should our skincare routine. Oils need to be introduced more than ever, lotions should be richer and balms need to be replenished in preparation for some skin TLC.

Hydrate

Keeping your skin hydrated during winter is essential for a fresh and dewy complexion. Cold temperatures outside, versus heated offices and homes means your skin’s moisture can evaporate quickly. Tackle this problem head on by using lotions which promise a good dose of hydration and a powerhouse of antioxidants to protect the skin at the same time.

Cleanse

The last thing you want to do is dry your skin out further during the cooler months, so choose a slightly gentler cleanser than you normally would. These formulations often contain ingredients such as chamomile and witch hazel, which are known for their soothing qualities. If your skin still feels dry, try cleansing only once a day.

Soothe chapped lips with the aid of a good quality lip balm. The best ones on the market will have ingredients to protect and soothe while also softening and moisturising. Search for products which include shea butter, honey and vitamin E to help repair and replenish your lips.

Mask it

Treating yourself to a weekly or monthly face mask is a great way to give your skin an extra burst of goodness while also helping to retain and protect your skin’s moisture barriers. Choose a mask which adds hydration to lackluster skin and tackles skin problems such as fine lines and dryness.

Bedtime bliss

As you sleep, these creams and serums get to work repairing and healing skin after a tough day in the winter elements.

Serum

If you struggle with dry skin, try adding a serum to your skincare routine. Serums work to not only hit your skin with a burst of moisture, antioxidants, and hydration, but also have other benefits such as anti-aging and help to even out skin tone. Apply to your skin after cleansing and let it sink in for a couple of minutes before applying a moisturiser.
