Launching today is Full Circle, a T-shirt project by Mindful Fashion New Zealand, in collaboration with twenty-seven names, Wynn Hamlyn and Kate Sylvester.
Each designer has created a bespoke and limited edition T-shirt artwork — from tongue-in-cheek sewing puns, to hand drawn flora and fauna — to highlight the importance of knowing your supply chain, and its significance from the garment’s production to its end of life.
In a bid to showcase solutions to the many sustainability challenges of the fashion industry, “these T-shirts demonstrate[s] what it truly means for a garment to be circular and responsibly made. Each T-shirt is made from organic cotton grown and produced in a fully certified supply chain. They are manufactured, printed and finished in New Zealand with a pathway to be recycled back into new fibre at the end of their life once they are no longer repairable or wearable”, explains Jacinta FitzGerald, programme director of Mindful Fashion.
All proceeds from the 100% organic cotton, GOTS certified T-shirts will go towards supporting sustainable fashion development in New Zealand, from funding Mindful Fashion workshops — which provide the industry with the tools to advance work on carbon reduction, low impact materials and social sustainability — to developing more circular fashion initiatives.
The Mindful Fashion New Zealand Full Circle T-shirts are available for purchase from mindfulfashion.co.nz, wynnhamlyn.com, twentysevennames.co.nz, and katesylvester.co.nz.
