Didn’t get as many zzz’s as you should have last night? Don’t hide behind sunglasses – disguise the fact you’ve been burning the midnight oil with a few simple makeup tricks that take no time at all.

Wash and wear
If yesterday’s mascara has started heading south and there’s more foundation left on your pillow than your face, it’s time get scrubbing. Set the tap to cool and give your face a deep cleanse and exfoliation, followed by a boost of much-needed hydration with a brightening moisturiser.

Dermalogica PowerBright TRx Pure Light SPF50, $105
Thalgo Comfort Softness Exfoliator, $84.10

Prep and prime
Dehydration and lack of sleep can leave your skin looking lifeless. Before applying your makeup, smooth an illuminating, skin plumping primer across your cheeks and T-Zone to bring some life (and circulation) back into skin. Don’t forget, concealer is your best friend in times like these, so use a peach-toned corrector to disguise dark under eye circles followed by a highlighting concealer to brighten the eye area.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, $75
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector, $53

Eye spy
Tired eyes are a tell-tale sign of a restless night, so wake those peepers up with some strategically placed products. Arm your beauty tool kit with a nude or white eyeliner and use this along the waterline to hide any redness. A shimmering nude shadow applied to the inner corners of your eyes will help you look brighter and the winning combination of an eyelash curler and lashings of mascara will have you rivalling Bambi in no time.

Chi Chi Metallic Eyeshadow Stick, $19.99
MAC Studio Chromographic Pencil in NW25/NC30, $36

So fresh and so clean
Remember, the secret to hiding your night time sins is to keep your beauty look minimal and as fresh as possible; less is most definitely more. Once your eyes are done and you’re satisfied with your skin, simply finish off with a touch of bronzer across your cheekbones and along the bridge of the nose and forehead to give the illusion of a healthy, well-rested glow.

Bobbi Brown Ibiza Illuminating Bronzing Powder / Tahiti Illuminating Bronzing Powder, $75
