Why cutting back on Netflix could help your health

Many things in life are addictive. Shopping and Instagram stalking are two of the big ones we can all admit to, but something that’s so easy to overlook is the addiction to binging on Netflix… #guilty.

It’s become a part of our daily lives to binge watch our fave shows online. Following the lives of our fave fictional characters on shows like Gossip Girl, Suits and Riverdale seems like a standard everyday practice that we must take part in.

But surprise, surprise… all that binge-watching isn’t that glorious for our health as it’s zapping all our energy, making binge-watchers more tired than normal.

A new study has found that more than a third of British adults alone make themselves tired and lose sleep over watching more than one episode of the same show. Sound familiar?

Even more troubling, 25% of all people surveyed said they ignore and neglect their household chores in order to get their TV fix. Our alarm bells are ringing even more!

It’s been well documented that watching Netflix or looking at your phone right before bed can actually keep you up and hinder you having a good night’s sleep. While you might have caught up on the latest episode of Game of Thrones, you’ll actually be less energized for the days ahead and run the risk of burning out before the weekend (nooooo!).

Although we love to know the drama in store from our fave shows, saving that next episode for tomorrow might actually do you wonders.
