Everyone’s favourite singleton Bridget Jones is back!
The trailer for the highly anticipated third film has finally been released and it looks to be a goodie. From Emma Thompson’s surprise cameo to Bridget realizing “I’m pregnant and I don’t know who the father is” – Bridget Jones Baby is set to be another runaway hit! Here’s 10 things we know about the film so far:
1. Bridget made it into a wedding dress.
In waltzes Bridget in a white wedding gown walking down the aisle with her dear old dad Collin, all ready for her ‘happy ever after’. Bridget’s mum Pamela is decked out to the nines and BFF’s Jude, Shazza and Tom are cheering from the sideline’s on Bridget’s big day…or so it seems. As it turns out, this is all a figment of her imagination. As Bridget puts it: “So there I was surrounded by my friends and all ready for my happy ever after. At least that’s how I pictured it. The reality was much more… single.”
2. Mark Darcy is out of the picture. Kind of.
Dapper Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and Bridget have split up again. But don’t feel sorry for her – it seems Bridget is “loving” her new single life. Welcome back Miss Jones!
3. Expect to hear more Celine Dion.
The film’s now iconic soundtrack of Celine Dion’s All By Myself plays in the background as a very single Bridget sits at home in her old flat, by herself on the couch blowing out one very lonely birthday candle. Cheer up Bridg, McDreamy is coming your way!
4. Bridget is single and ready to mingle.
She might be single but that’s not stopping Bridget from getting out there and experiencing things – from a new love of spinning (the 2.0 edition in a dark room with disco lights) to nights out drinking cocktails. She’s even hitting music festivals.
5. Ed Sheeran makes a cameo.
British musician Ed Sheeran meets Bridget at a bar, but before you go thinking he is the new Mark Darcy, he shakes his head at Bridget in disapproval. Sorry Bridg, you won’t be going to the Grammys with Ed anytime soon!
6. Bridget’s moving up the ranks in her career.
Bridget has ditched the spotlight of being a TV personality and has a new job as a producer of a top British news program. However it looks as though she still struggles to be taken seriously!
7. She is remaining friendly with her ex.
Bridget and Mark have an awkward but cordial encounter at a party, after which they both order a very large drink!
8. Bridget + McDreamy = LOVE.
Bridget has a Cinderella moment, after she falls flat on her face at a music festival. Luckily a very dapper American fellow by the name of Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey) helps Bridget put on her now, very muddy, shoe bending down on one knee with that dreamy smile. Awhhhh, love is in the air!
9. OMG Bridget’s pregnant!
Bridget is finally going to be a mum! But there is one teeny, tiny, slightly awkward problem – she doesn’t know who the father is, telling her mother that “there is at least 50 per cent chance” that Mark’s the father.
10. Emma Thompson makes a surprise cameo.
Emma Thompson saves the day, at least for now! Thompson plays Bridget’s doctor and helps Bridget to maintain her cover story to both Mark and Jack.
So there you have it: Everything you need to know about the new Bridget Jones film! But don’t try and guess the ending as you’ll hit a brick wall. Even its star Renee Zellweger has no clue, telling the Sunday Express: “It’s kind of brilliant. None of the cast knows who fathered Bridget’s baby or who she’ll choose as her beau. The plan is to keep us all in the dark, right up to the premiere.”
FYI we’re rooting for Mr Darcy (sorry McDreamy but there’s just too much history there!)
Bridget Jones’ Baby will be released in cinemas on 16 September.
