Taylor Swift tops Forbes 30 Under 30 List for 2016

No surprises here!

Taylor Swift has topped the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2016, after also topping the publication’s 100 Highest Paid Celebrities list earlier this year.

How has she done it? Forbes calculates the earnings of celebrities between June 1, 2015 to June 1, 2016, taking out taxes and management fees, using data from multiple sources, such as Nielsen and IMDB. 26-year-old Swift has banked a cool US$170 million over the past year through her 1989 tour, endorsement deals and record sales, and is a fully fledged social media superpower, with 93.3 million followers.

The breakdown of Swift’s incredible year:

– Her 1989 tour grossed a quarter of a billion dollars
– She sold more than 9 million copies of her 1989 album worldwide, and placed in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for a year.
– Swift is the first woman ever to win the Best Album of the Year twice
– She locked in endorsement deals with Apple, Diet Coke, Keds and more.
– Her estimated net worth is US $250 million.

Other celebrities to make the list include Justin Bieber (No. 6, $56 million), Jennifer Lawrence (No. 12, US$46 million), Rafael Nadal (No. 18, $37.5 million) and Usain Bolt (No. 27, $32.5 million). Unfortunately, the gender pay gap is just as apparent in this list – out of 37 names in this year’s list, only four are women.
