In celebration of the new Viva la Juicy Sucre perfume, Miss FQ was lucky enough to catch up with the angel herself, Candice Swanepoel. Not only is she a new mum to seven-month-old son Anacã, and working as a supermodel, she’s also the face of the fab new fragrance. Here she dishes on all things beauty and lifestyle, explaining her love for all things au natural.

Miss FQ: As the face of the new Viva la Juicy Sucre fragrance, how would you describe the Viva la Juicy girl?

Candice: Every shoot we do is quite extravagant and very feminine and pretty so she is definitely an adventurous girl. She’s fun, she’s charming, likes to go out and she’s a little bit spontaneous.

What do you love about the new Viva la Juicy Sucre fragrance?

The new fragrance is delicious! It’s kind of a mix between sweet, fruity, floral and there are notes of vanilla, peach nectar, almond cream, and crushed coco beans. Everything is yummy!

How is this fragrance different to previous ones?

I think this one is sweeter, I mean the bottle that has the icing dripping all over it! It’s definitely for girls who love a sweet fragrance. I am loving it!

I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I read somewhere that woody fragrances tend to wear all day, so what are your tips for ensuring this sweeter perfume lasts?

I tend to spray a bit in my hair which makes it stay longer than on the skin. It is good when you do a little hair flick ha ha. I carry my fragrance in my handbag with me so I can reapply – great if I’m on the run or travelling!

What is your secret to having clean and beautiful skin?

It definitely starts off internally; I eat really clean and try to eat superfoods that are good for my skin. I think exfoliation is a good secret. I exfoliate at least twice or three time a week so that I’m getting rid of all the makeup and dead skin, and nothing builds up.

Great tip! Is there a specific product that you love at the moment for exfoliation?

I use the Colbert MD exfoliation pads, it’s like a little rough pad that you open up and discard afterwards. If I don’t have any of my products with me, it’s easy to make [a scrub] with coffee and coconut oil, or sugar and coconut oil.

What’s your make up routine when you are traveling?

[I] get photographed a lot of the time coming out of airports, so you kind of have to be prepared. I always have a concealer, mascara, and a lip/cheek tint with me in my handbag. It’s pretty simple. I have all the little travel kits to clean my skin with on the plane too.

Are there any products that you absolutely swear by for when you’re travelling?

Rosewater spray. Witch-hazel is an amazing cleansing toner, it get all the dirt and the oil off. The mascara I like to wear is Max Factor Full Lash Effect and the tint that I’m using right now is by RMS, an organic make up line.

It sounds like you’re in to beauty products that very natural and organic. Is that something you are a big believer in when it comes to beauty?

Yes, I am. I always look at the ingredients and make sure it’s not tested on animals and have a more ethical view on beauty. I’ve started using things in the kitchen as my beauty products; Aloe Vera, coffee, coconut oil, you can make a lot of your own [products]. I hate to spend hours at the salon, so I’m starting to do that more and more.

When it comes to food, health and fitness, what’s your approach at the moment? You’ve just had a baby so are you taking some time to relax or are you still maintaining your routine?

I relaxed so much during my pregnancy, but I’ve kept up my routine and always eat healthily. I feel better when put good stuff in my body. Whatever I crave, I have in moderation. When I get back fully, I’ll be exercising a lot more than I am right now ha ha.

Do you think moderation is really important to stay happy and mentally healthy, as well as physically healthy?

Yes, exactly. I think taking a diet to an extreme is harmful to your body and when you start putting limits on yourself is when weird cravings start happening. I find if I don’t exercise for a long time I get down so even if I just go for a swim, paddle board or do like 15 or 20 minutes in the gym, it’s a good boost.

Is exercise a way you cope with the pressures that you face being a supermodel and a Mum and a celebrity?

Yeah, for sure. It’s a mixture of exercise and travel. I love to escape to new places. Travelling is always really good for me mentally; you’re experiencing new things all the time and getting out of your head. When I’m travelling I’m automatically exercising because I like to go to places to be in the nature; hiking and looking for waterfalls kind of thing.
