“It wasn’t Kendall’s fault”
Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out in defence of her daughter’s recent appearance in a Pepsi ad that was pulled after being met with widespread backlash.
The controversial ad came under fire from critics shortly after it was screened as it was thought to be trivialising the Black Lives Matter movement.
Not long after Pepsi pulled the ‘Live For Now Moments’ ad, the soft drink company issued a public apology to offender viewers and to Kendall herself.
“Pepsi was trying to project a global a message of unity, peace and understanding,” the company said in a statement.
“Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologise. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologise for putting Kendall Jenner in this position,” Pepsi said in a press release.

Caitlyn Jenner has now weighed in on Kendall’s involvement. She says that although Kendall had read and approved of the script, and was “happy with the way it went” – “it wasn’t Kendall’s fault”.
“Yes, it was a bad situation with Pepsi,” Jenner said in an interview with the Daily Beast. “Kendall is the most wonderful, adorable, sweet young woman, OK? She’s a model. She got hired by Pepsi. She was very excited to go do a Pepsi commercial, kinda like Cindy Crawford did. And Cindy Crawford is like her hero and idol.”
Jenner also said she wished the company hadn’t folded so quickly on the ad, and had “been a little tough” in defending the commercial.
She also commented the ad “wasn’t about Black Lives Matter” and that “72 per cent of people liked the commercial”.
“Anytime you’re involved with something you want it to be successful. Unfortunately,” she said “this was not successful.”
Whether you agree or not, she’s sticking up for her daughter which is only fair enough.
