From MECCA Maxima madness to Dior’s new ‘It’ lip product, here’s what you need to know this week.
MECCA Maxima is making its way to Auckland.
Exciting news for MECCA beauty junkies: the cult beauty retailer has announced a third Maxima store is set to open in New Zealand – and there’s only a few weeks to wait.
The Auckland location will be the largest yet, and if the overnight vigils that took place before the Christchurch and Wellington openings are anything to go by, we are set for just as much anticipation and excitement at the new Queen Street store.
Offering over 50 brands, including exclusives such as Urban Decay, GlamGlow, Mario Badescu and Too Faced, MECCA Maxima Auckland will also play host to favourites such as NARS, Hourglass, Stila and By Terry, and in addition, will be the go-to destination to get your fix of K-beauty.
This is one grand opening you won’t want to miss – and not just because there are goodies from Urban Decay, Too Faced, bareMinerals and NARS up for grabs! Your new beauty obsession is set to open its doors on August 3: forget to put it in your diary to your own detriment.
Dior’s Lip Tattoo is finally here — and it’s as good as we hoped.
There have been various types of makeup stain come out of Korea recently, from rubbery peel off products to intensely pigmented gels. But though we love the idea of a stick-around pigment, we’ve yet to find a product that’s easy to apply — until we saw Dior’s that is. Just arrived in New Zealand, expect a natural flush of colour that lasts up to four hours, with no residue (it feels just like your lips). $53, out now.
Brand to know: Bee Yü.
A Dunedin-based skincare brand is developing a following for its high performance bee-based products. Utilising the skin-loving properties of high rated 20+ UMF® manuka honey and anti-ageing bee venom, bee yü’s philosophy uses fewer ingredients, in higher concentrations than most to achieve its skincare goals. The tightening and lifting effect of these products is instant, from the Hydrating Day Crème ($128) with bee venom and royal jelly to the Cleanse, Tighten and Regenerate Face Masque ($148). Plus, with a focus on funding projects aimed at future-proofing bees, you’re also giving nature a helping hand.
Courteney Cox shares her skincare secret.
The Friends star looks damn good for 52, and it turns out her secret — or one of them anyway — is Urban Shield Concentrate ($84) by Katherine Daniels. Cox came across the British brand’s product on set thanks to celeb makeup artist Gemma Aldous and it’s now part of her daily routine. The serum gives skin a major moisture boost and works to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Editor’s pick: Arture.
This New Zealand brand may be just starting out but Arture Resurfacing Microdermabrasion Cream, $124.99, performs head to head with established brands. The 100% natural exfoliator effectively removes dead skin while the ultra-rich formula packed with fruit seed oils leaves the skin hydrated and supple.
Elizabeth Arden’s new lip oil is a winter must-have and here’s why.
We’re suckers for great packaging and this new Sheer Kiss Lip Oil ($51), by Elizabeth Arden is a stand out. Out this week, the tinted lip oil pairs the hydrating benefits of a balm with the pigment of a gloss and comes in six shades. With coconut, avocado, tsubaki and meadowfoam oils plus splianthes acmella flower extract to support collagen, you can expect hydrated, plumper, more kissable lips this winter.
