Discover why these hot wheels left our team with all of the feels.
On a recent shoot for Fashion Quarterly’s spring 2023 issue, we looked to the enigmatic and evolving silhouettes of Audi to set the tone. With clean lines, sculptural contours and premium craftsmanship inherent in their design language, these cars – and the final fits as a result – spoke volumes.
Styled by Tori Ambler, the ’80s-esque shoot featured powerful pieces in punctual colours, glossy finishes, and plenty of metallic detailing. Three distinct Audi models from three different eras posed alongside Ella Sloane, transporting us into the night where photographer Chris Sisarich was able to capture them in their afterdark glory. Shoulder pads, neck flowers, velvet dresses and low-slung hip belts – these are not new concepts but when styled in contemporary ways, they’re ready to worn yet again by the fashion circuit through an entirely new lens, proving that you can always add a modern spin, but a classic will always remain a classic.
Audi is driven by a desire to produce progressive vehicles built on innovation. Much like the designer pieces that hang in our wardrobes, what’s new and exciting today couldn’t have existed without the archived collections that pioneered seasons, if not decades, before. This is why we opted to include models from different eras in our shoot.
Electric Feel
The Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback – the brand’s fully electric compact SUV – offers a maximum of 542 kilometres on a single charge. Exuding confidence and sophistication, the Q4 e-tron Sportback spun our proverbial wheels by offering exceptional interior space thanks to its electric powertrain, which eliminates the need for an engine compartment, leaving our model plenty of space to pose in the back seat wearing the titillating red sequin ensemble by Olivia Cashmore.
Power moves
Then there’s the Audi RS e-tron GT. The sculptural and seductive exterior design epitomises power and performance while reinforcing Audi’s commitment to sustainable luxury. In other words, it’s chic. It’s the vehicle equivalent of a ‘power fit’. However its authority on electric power can only be understood from behind the wheel. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 3.3 seconds, Audi’s electrified masterpiece reimagines the iconic quattro model, showcasing the future of mobility today.
Add to ‘Q’
With a legacy that traces back to the 1980s – much like the stylistic direction of our shoot – Audi quattro set a new precedent in motion, taking a technological leap that would reshape the entire automotive industry. Quattro laid the foundation for their cutting-edge electric vehicles today, including the aforementioned RS e-tron GT. That’s why it was important for us to include in our shoot. Its presence, prowess, and integrity is just as relevant today as its electrified and contemporary counterpart.
