Swimwear should flatter your figure. Louise Hilsz asks Janine Fisk from Freya and Fantasie how to shop for your shape.

Are there any rules when it comes to trying on swimwear in store?
It’s always best to get fitted for swimwear. If you have a larger cup size, always check you feel correctly supported. Try new shapes – you won’t know if they flatter your shape unless you give them a go.

How do you know you have found the right size regardless of your shape?
Some simple things to check include that if the suit has a wire, your breast is fully contained in the cup, no overspill! The band of your swimwear should be firmly anchored around the body and level at the front and back and your shoulder straps should be tight enough that you can only get two fingers under the strap.

What styles suit a fuller bust?
If you have a larger bust, (D cup and above) then look for cup-sized swimwear that can support you and make you feel confident. Freya and Fantasie swimwear are specifically designed for women with a fuller bust, in sizes up to a J cup, in styles such as halter, triangle, long lines, bandeaus, soft cup and plunge tankinis, and a variety of one-piece suits.

What is on trend with swimwear?
This season is all about versatility. We have seen lots of collections featuring multiway straps that can be tied in multiple ways. We have launched several ranges with interchangeable coordinates so you can personalise your poolside look. We offer a wide range of high-neck styles, which are on trend, including bikinis and full pieces – so you can choose the shape you feel confident in.

What’s the best style to hide a tummy?
Swimsuits or tankinis which feature gathered details are incredibly figure flattering. Also, try high-waisted bottoms for extra tummy support. Fantasie swimwear’s Cayman is a stylish floral print on a bold indigo base. The twist-front swimsuit offers sculpted lines that flatter as well as a sweetheart neckline.

When should you stick to solids versus prints or black versus colour?
Once you find the right shape you won’t be limited by colour. Women are opting for bright bold colours and mix-and-match styles that show their personalities, as well as flattering their figures.
