Can they come to NZ please?!
The way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach but when a gift is as much a feast for the eyes as they are the tastebuds, you know you’re on to a real winner.
Flowers and chocolates may be the cliché gift of the century but when they’re re-imagined into an incredible bouquet of chocolate-filled doughnuts? Well, now you’re talking!
And it’s an Australian company, Dessertboxes, who are filling the hole (geddit?) in the market.
Much like a classic dozen roses, their doughnut bouquets feature 12 freshly-made doughnuts beautifully wrapped in stylish hessian, colourful tissue-paper and silky ribbons.
Unlike a floral bouquet, however, this impressive edible gift retails at a small $78 for either a Nutella-filled doughnut bouquet or a classic frosting and sprinkles bunch.
Run by the three siblings behind Kayter co, the catering company who brought the world Golden Gaytime burgers and dessert coconuts, Dessertboxes is clearly already on to a winner.
In just three months, the Sydney-based store is already whipping up 660 doughnuts a day to create their bouquets and doughnut boxes.
Co-owner Samantha Khater told Daily Mail that Dessertboxes is the solution to the boring gifts people insist on buying.
“People are in high demand for a gift that can’t be re-gifted. And what do you give a man? Flowers? I don’t think so,” she said.
“Jewellery rusts and flowers die but nobody has ever turned down a doughnut.”
