In this new weekly series, we ask fashion and beauty industry insiders to dish the details of their dream weekends. First up? MAC Pro senior artist, Kiekie Stanners.
5pm Friday! Time for a bourbon and coke and/or bubbles (depending on my mood!) at Madame George on K’Rd, followed by takeaway bags of mixed salads (with fries on the side of course) from Bird on a Wire, which I’ll eat while watching the sunset at the beach to re-inspire me after work (I hate watching TV!).
Come Saturday morning you’ll find me riding on the back of a motorcycle out of the city to get in some salt-water swims and sun tanning, and then I’ll treat myself to a mini shopping spree at Zambesi, where I’ve had my eye on the Alligator Carpet Bag.
A coffee from Ceremony will probably be in order, then I’ll head home to get ready for my evening. That means beautifying myself with quite an extensive list of makeup (because it’s Saturday night and I can!) including my new favourite MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Carnivorous, MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara and my current summer fragrance MAC Shadescents in Crème De Nude.
I’ll then throw on my new Marques’Almeida dress (which I wear every weekend when I’m not in MAC black, and whilst the weather is still summer-lovin’), and head out to dinner at Ponsonby Road Bistro, where I can never resist the eye fillet steak. After dinner I’ll be dancing in my lounge to my own Prince/80’s metal soundtrack.
Sunday brunch will be at my weekend regular Dizengoff for my weekly order of avocado salad, and then I’ll round out the weekend with a bit of rock’n’roll playing while I reignite my love for sewing, or just curl up on the couch with The Last of the Giants: The True Story of Guns N’ Roses – the one GN’R book I haven’t read yet!
I love making plans to catch up with friends at Kiss Kiss on a Sunday night as I don’t cook, especially not on Sundays! And for a beauty indulgence, a Sodashi Brightening Marine Mineral Mask followed by soaking my skin in MAC Marine-Bright Formula Softening Lotion recharges my skin and always puts me in a good space for the week ahead.
Finally in bed, I’ll scroll through Instagram – of course! I’ll also check out The Outnet for some online shopping, and browse mood-boards to get creative inspiration for my working week. Then it’s phone down, lights out, perfect weekend done!
