Are you more matte? Or do you glam it up with glitter?
After the announcement of Kylie Jenner’s hotly anticipated #Kyshadow palette we thought it only fitting that the Miss FQ team share their tried-and-tested favourite eyeshadow palettes…
Urban Decay Naked Palette
“Full disclosure: my eyeshadow game is weak af. I’m a mascara master and I do an excellent red lip. My cat-eye skills are exceptional and I like to think I’m not too bad with bases. When it comes to my lids, however, all I’m good for is a swipe of nude shadow with a nude shimmer on top – quickly and clumsily applied with whatever brush is to hand. Urban Decay’s Naked Palette was a cult product I felt like I needed to own, but save for the first two shades (which are great), it’s completely wasted on me. I know, I know, Youtube, right? But you can’t be amazing at everything.”

Tom Ford Cognac Sable Eye Color Quad
This week I welcomed the Tom Ford quad ‘Cognac Sable’ to my eye shadow pallet quiver and it has quickly moved to the number one ranking. The colours are warm and rich with 2 matt shades and two shimmered. The shadows are velvety and pigment rich which I love but the stand out with this product if I’m honest is the heavy rich mahogany and gold Tom Ford packaging which is just perfection and makes applying eye shadow a luxury moment in the mornings.

Stila Eyes Are The Window palette in ‘Mind’
“First of all, I am a superficial human and I am a sucker for beautiful packaging. This is what first drew me to this Stila palette. I use the shade ‘mind’. It has the perfect balance of matte transition colours as well as gorgeous shimmer tones – the warm browns are the colours I love to wear and there isn’t one shade in this palette that has gone unused. I like it because you can create numerous looks with the 12 colours provided. It’s also the perfect size to take travelling with you! I’m actually looking into buying the ‘spirit’ shade soon, to add to my collection!”
– Jess Thomson, fashion & editorial assistant.

Bobbi Brown Sunkissed Eye Palette in Sunkissed Nude
“I’m a total magpie, so if we’re judging these palettes purely by their packaging then this rose gold is a winner. In the past year or so, I’ve become obsessed with finding the perfect pink-hued eyeshadow, and the darker pink in this quad creates an amazing, natural-looking wash of colour. At night, I like to add a bit of the pink shimmer (top right) to the inner corners of my eyes for a more metallic finish. Brown-eyed girls, this one’s for you!”
– Lucy Slight, beauty editor.

MAC custom Pro palette
“For me there’s nothing worse than an eyeshadow palette with only 2 or 3 colours that I use on the reg and the rest just sitting there untouched! So for as long as I can remember, I’ve just bought my favourite shades at MAC and added them to a custom Pro palette. I love shimmery peaches and warm bronzes which are good for making blue eyes pop and I’ll always have a few darker browns and matte shades to create a smokier effect. My picks for the ultimate palette? Nylon, All That Glitters, Brun, Twinks, Carbon and Gleam.”

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
“Repeat after me: Thou shalt always own the perfect palette of nudes. I’m telling you… this. one. is. it. Maybelline has created an array of buttery beige shades and necessary neutrals, complemented by a gorgeous gold and many beautiful bronzes. It’s so good that I wonder how I ever lived without it before! Here’s why: Colour range? Check. Seamless blendable? Check. Great colour payoff? Check. Suits all skin tones? Check. Cult status? Check. Affordable? Check. Need I say more?”
