Calling all budding stylists, makeup artists, models and hair stylists – this upcoming New Zealand Fashion Week is your time to shine!
The HITO Hot New Talent Competition is giving up-and-coming style stars the chance to impress industry insiders, with those shortlisted to the final 15 working alongside the pros at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Fashion Quarterly’s editor Sally-Ann Mullin has been named as one of the nine industry mentors and any aspiring fashion stylists who are shortlisted in this category will benefit from Sally-Ann’s many years in the industry working across film, television, magazines and advertising campaigns.
Other mentors this year include hair stylist extraordinaire, Richard Kavanagh, whose portfolio includes work for Prada, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent; Rebecca York, the 2014 Hairdresser of the Year and owner of the iconic Willis York salon in Wellington; and Phoenix Renata, eyebrow guru and owner of Phoenix Cosmetics, who will put would-be makeup artists through their paces.
The partnership with NZFW will help HITO (Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation) find the next generation of talented creatives and the shortlisted 15 will go on to be supported into internships and work experience.
“Creating opportunities for emerging talent in the fashion industry is important to NZFW. Every year we look for ways to support new designers and we created a similar competition in 2010 with all winners going on to employment in their relevant field,” said NZFW Managing Director Dame Pieter Stewart DNZM.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to flourish when put under the fashion spotlight, then visit the NZFW website for more information on how to enter the 2015 HITO Hot New Talent Competition. Entries close at 5.00pm on Monday 3 August.
