2. Cartier, up close
If you’ve ever wanted to step inside the world of Cartier, Melbourne’s NGV is making it possible this winter. Bringing together nearly 400 dazzling jewels, timepieces and precious objects, the blockbuster exhibition traces the storied history of the French maison through pieces worn by royalty, aristocrats and Hollywood icons. Alongside the sparkle, visitors can explore rarely seen sketches, photographs and archival materials that reveal the craftsmanship behind the creations. Consider it a rare glimpse into the enduring allure of Cartier.
3. Yu Mei expands beyond the bag
After more than a decade perfecting the accessories that anchor a wardrobe, Yu Mei is turning its attention to the clothes themselves. Unveiled during an intimate runway presentation at Wellington’s Common Material, the 36-piece capsule explores the building blocks of a contemporary wardrobe through menswear tailoring, school uniform dressing and the practicality of everyday wardrobes. While the collection’s foundations are practical, its inspiration is deeply personal. Wong looked to the windswept palette of the South Coast where she grew up and the community of creative women whose wardrobes, routines and lifestyles helped shape the range. Salon Yu Mei’s made-to-measure tailoring is now available to pre-order.
