STAY

For this trip, we were kindly hosted meaning we didn’t choose our accommodation. We stayed at the Harbour Grand in North Point – our view over the water was magical at night and misty in the mornings. We were within walking distance to Causeway Bay which we headed to a couple of times for food and shopping. Next time we would love to stay in Wan Chai or Central to be more amongst it all. Our trip was so short but we still managed to find some interesting spots – we loved Tai Hung.

DINE

We really enjoyed Fineprint – a small chain of cafes, great for when you just want avocado on toast. Fineprint was in Tai Hung, a really nice, cozy suburb near Causeway Bay. It was quiet with an alternative crowd and good food spots, definitely worth wandering around and discovering little gems. We did enjoy a vegetarian version of a traditional Chinese meal at Three Virtues Restaurant. I like to research places before I visit, and some of the spots we will be checking out next time we’re back include Dead Poets, Ping Pong 129 & Bar Leone.

SHOP

Good shopping is everywhere in Hong Kong. We visited a few designer stores; Jil Sander, Gentle Monster & Lane Crawford. Most designer stores we visited were inside very luxurious malls, but I would definitely recommend Horizon Plaza to seek out the best outlet deals. There are so many hidden gems that can be sought out with a bit of exploration – we’ll definitely be putting a couple of days aside next time to do this.

SEE

Galleries are my number one travel priority. Just before heading away, I discovered The Shophouse, a small gallery located inside an old deco building that’s open by appointment only. We loved this gallery, the owner was really welcoming and gave me some tips about food in the area as well as the history of the buildings. They have a second gallery in a traditional building, it’s called Other Things – both are worth visiting. With galleries, it’s always worth checking who is showing before making the mission.

M+ Museum was a highlight, and was the number one thing on my to do list, outside of the jewellery fairs. This big contemporary gallery is hugely inspiring and was so good we went back twice. Another great one is White Cube Gallery – worth a visit if you like the artists on show, but definitely check first.
