1. Juicy Couture
Deadly Ponies has partnered with Wellington-based natural wine company Fruit Cru on a new collaboration that celebrates creativity and clever ingenuity! This exclusive collection reimagines Deadly Ponies’ iconic Card File, made from recycled leather off-cuts and adorned with playful, fruity graphics inspired by Fruit Cru’s sparkling organic wines, Quinze and Umeko. A playful blend of creativity and craftsmanship—this summer-ready collab is a true embodiment of both brands’ talent and commitment to a sustainable future. Available only at Deadly Ponies’ Wellington store and online, this collection is ripe for the picking.
2. Splash Planet
Christian Louboutin and David LaChapelle staged a high-fashion pool party at Paris’ iconic Piscine Molitor for the SS25 show, featuring the French Olympic artistic swimming team. Choreographed by Blanca Li, the performance reimagined a 1950s Hollywood water ballet, with all swimmers wearing Louboutin’s Miss Z heels. The event, held during Paris Fashion Week, celebrated the trio’s shared love of movement and dance. Known for his innovative fashion show concepts, Louboutin created a spectacle blending high-fashion, synchronised swimming, and cinematic flair, making it a standout moment of the season.
3. Powerful positions
Y-3 is launching at The Shelter this week, bringing Yohji Yamamoto’s avant-garde vision to athletic tech-wear in collaboration with Adidas. This collection allows wearers to adjust garment fit through flaps, snaps, and zips, emphasising individuality with the mantra, “You wear the logo, the logo doesn’t wear you.” Yamamoto’s signature play with shape and volume adds character to each piece. Y-3 will be available online and at The Shelter’s Ponsonby and Dunedin boutiques, offering a fresh blend of high fashion and performance. You’ll want to sprint to this covetable edit.
4. Kowtow Bloom
Founded in New Zealand by Gosia Piatek in 2006, Kowtow’s garments are traced from seed-to-garment. Realising their ‘wear nature, not plastic’ sentiment—quite literally—is their new Bloom dress, which features a larger-than-life floral Delphinium print which is a direct translation of florals from studio to fabric captured in house on their scanner. Made from organic cotton voile, the oversized, full-length shirt dress offers versatility, whether worn loose or cinched at the waist. Featuring a standard collar, Agoya shell buttons, and side splits for ease, it’s as practical as it is beautiful.
5. Total recall
If there’s one delivery across our desks that sets the summer state of mind in motion, it’s a new Pals delivery. The locally loved RTD brand is refreshing its lineup with two new flavours: Vodka, Pink Lemon & Soda (“The New Pink One”) and Vodka Pineapple, Lime & Soda (“The New Yellow One”). Available in both alcoholic and zero-alcohol versions, these new additions replace two original flavours. Known for its creative marketing, Pals teased the switch with a ‘resignation’ campaign, which naturally had fans speculating. Well, the embargo has lifted and we’re excited to spread the news.
