It’s that time again in Sydney where industry people from far and wide gather at the iconic Carriageworks centre for the spectacle that is Australian Fashion Week. If there’s one thing our friends across the ditch know how to do well (aside from putting on a good show) it’s making a stylish entrance. While this week is all about showcasing the very best talent the Antipodean fashion industry has to offer, we’ll no doubt be seeking sartorial inspiration from the attendees as well.
Day one proved to be a colourful affair – with revellers flocking to the venue donned in a plethora of vibrant hues. With temperatures slowly starting to drop (and a spot of rain in the morning), layering was a popular styling method for many, with coats slung over shoulders and bustiers placed atop t-shirts.
Spirits were high on day two of AFW as the Sydney sun made an appearance. Continuing on with yesterday’s sartorial theme, pops of colour came mostly by way of accessories amongst the attendees. Tactile accents were also spotted – with model and actress Sarah Allen seen donning an iridescent sequin vest.
Despite hitting the mid-week mark, day three’s show attendees showed no signs of slowing down, as statement dresses and crisp tailoring came out in full force. If there’s one thing we’ve taken away from this year’s street style, it’s that you can never underestimate the impact of a well chosen accessory.
