Videris is hosting a pop-up in Tāmaki Makaurau; two iconic local labels join forces on a collaboration; Deadly Ponies and Stolen Girlfriend’s Club release new collections; and Sofia Coppola creates a short film for Chanel.

1. Feel the rush

Synonymous with summer and understated luxury, a raffia bag is a must-have in one’s repertoire during the warmer months. Delivering us exactly that is Deadly Ponies’ latest collection ‘Rush’, a mini capsule range crafted primarily from regenerated raffia yarn. Showcasing the brand’s ongoing efforts towards sustainability and traceability, each style has been hand-crocheted by a small women’s collective in Thailand. Whether you’re beach bound or simply looking for a new everyday accessory, the capsule offers a selection of the brand’s top-selling bag styles including the Mr Cinch Mini, Mr Ferris Maxi and Midi and Mr Porter Tote for you to choose from.

2. Perfect fit

If you’re in the market for a new lingerie set, now is the time to act, as  New Zealand based lingerie brand, Videris, is hosting a pop-up in Auckland’s Britomart area this December. Run by founder Chloé Julian, you’ll have the opportunity to shop their entire range of chic sustainable bras and underwear with the help of Julian herself. Having had over 15 years of experience in the industry designing for the likes of Stella McCartney Lingerie, Agent Provocateur and Savage X Fenty, Julian definitely knows a thing or two about making quality lingerie. To celebrate their temporary pop-up, the brand will be offering aura photography in-store and free personal bra fittings with Julian; the first 100 customers in-store will receive a complimentary sleep mask; and every in-store purchase within the first week will go in to win $1000 worth of Videris Lingerie. What more incentive do you need to pay it a visit?

The pop-up will be open at SpaceFor, 10 Te Ara Tahuhu, Britomart, Auckland between December 13th-23rd. Head in anytime between Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.

3. New heights

Step aside ballet flats, there’s a new shoe style on our radar this summer. Caitlin Crisp and La Tribe have partnered up to release their version of an espadrille – an undisputed summer staple. Handcrafted in Portugal from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified canvas, this capsule collection offers two monochrome colourways in the style, drawing design inspiration from the essence of both brands. Set on a woven block wedge heel, the shoe features a flattering rounded toe and each pair comes with a set of two interchangeable ties — one matching set, and one set of broderie lace straps. Suitable for all your upcoming summer beach soirees and garden parties, we have a feeling this will be the shoe du jour this season.

4. Heavy metal

On top of nailing it in the pretty yet punky clothing department, local label Stolen Girlfriend’s Club have long been purveyors of high-quality statement jewellery. In their latest collection ‘Twisted Love’, the brand is staying true to its romantic and rock‘n’roll aesthetic, debuting pieces that strike a balance between masculine and feminine. Exploring a selection of nature’s organic forms, the collection features details such as tender hearts, spiders, roses and talons throughout. Available in sterling silver and pure gold in a range of earring, necklace, bracelet and ring styles, there’s a piece in the collection to delight any jewellery lover.

5. Stomping ground

Need a dose of high fashion news? Each year, the luxury French house Chanel showcases its Métiers d’Art collection that pays tribute to the various artisans that contribute their craftsmanship to the Maison. Held outside of the traditional fashion calendar, the show took place in Northern Manchester this year — a city that’s known for its rich cultural scene. In the lead up to the collection debut, Chanel’s creative director Virginia Viard commissioned visionary film director and Chanel ambassador Sofia Coppola to make a short film called ‘A Taste of Manchester’ to honour the show and the city in which it was held. Utilising historic photos of Gabrielle Chanel in Great Britain mixed with iconic imagery of Manchester, Coppola produced a chic collage style film that illustrated the profound cultural influence that Manchester has had on the Maison.
