An exciting new restaurant opens in Tāmaki Makaurau; BAINA launches fresh colourways in their signature towel styles; Gloria unveils a new custom catalogue; Monarc Jewellery debuts their Oura collection; and the summer mules we’ve added to our wish list from Nicole Rebstock.

1. Make waves

Since launching in 2019, BAINA has established themselves as the gold standard in stylish towelling in Aotearoa. Drawing inspiration from the mineral tones and earthy hues found in nature, the brand is introducing their coveted Heritage collection in new Cement and Rhus colourways this October. Designed to pair elegantly with stone, wood and concrete interiors, the collection will be available in BAINA’s signature checkerboard and jacquard gate motif designs in four towelling styles. “Explorative of time with self, the collection evokes a sense of groundedness and calm,” says BAINA co-founder, Bailey Meredith. “ We were intrigued to explore the moments of stillness post-bathe – reconnection to self – and the clarity only time in nature can bring.”

The collection is offered in a Pool Towel, Bath Towel, Bath Mat and Hand Towel and will be available for purchase from the brand’s website shopbaina.com, and select retailers now.

2. Shimmer, spice, and everything nice

We could all use a little sparkle in our wardrobes come festive season – and what better way to inject some than with a new piece of jewellery? Named after the Latin and Ancient Greek words for “tail” and “time”, Oura is the newest collection to hail from Kiwi-born, London-based brand Monarc Jewellery. Drawing inspiration from the swirling sculptural works of artists Georgia O’Keefe and Alexander Calder, the Oura collection features a range of loop and twist styles adorned with donut charms and freshwater pearls. Crafted using 100% recycled sterling silver and gold vermeil from certified sources, the pieces are intended to be worn and paired together for ultimate versatility.

Shop the full collection at monarcjewellery.com and in select stockists now.

3. Tailor made

If there’s one designer who knows dresses, it’s Kristine Crabb. Lovers of her dreamy Gloria creations can now pore through an extensive range of her made-to-order offerings with the introduction of Gloria Custom Catalogue. With a range of new and archive pieces available for personalisation, the Custom Catalogue allows you to preselect one of her designs before making an appointment with her experienced team who tailor the pieces to suit your individual style, preferences and size requirements. And if you’re in need of a dress for an upcoming event during celebration season, Crabb will be hosting complimentary consultations in Wellington between the 27th and 28th of October.

The Custom Catalogue consultations will be available between 27th-28th of October at Underlena Showroom – 49 Courtenay Place, Wellington. Head to the Gloria website to find out more.

4. Cosmopolitan cool

There’s nothing like a chic new restaurant opening to get our motors running. This week, esteemed restaurateurs Josh and Helen Emett have opened the doors to Gilt Brasserie, an elevated all-day restaurant serving fabulous fare inspired by contemporary European cuisine in Auckland’s CBD. Expect French favourites such as duck rillette, oyster mornay, duck frites and steak au poivre to feature on the menu, accompanied by an extensive wine and cocktail selection. Having undergone extensive renovations, the 130-seat restaurant is nestled at the corner of Chancery and O’Connell Streets and offers a spacious and stylish space for diners to enjoy. “Gilt is a place where you come for a long lunch and stay until dinner, as much as a place where you can grab a hand crafted deli sandwich to takeaway, or simply unwind with a martini at the bar,” says Josh Emett. If the canapés and cocktails from the opening celebrations were anything to go by, we’re every bit confident this this corner restaurant will attract.

Gilt is now open six days a week. Find out more or make a booking by visiting giltbrasserie.nz

5. Best foot forward

There’s a head-turning pair of shoes on our minds this week. Introducing Mariah by Nicole Rebstock. A fusion of our favourite footwear details, this mule is elevated with a block heel and embellished with a gold link chain detail, making them a stylish solution to dressing up your casual wear to head out for dinner or call past the local for cocktails. And with built-in comfort ranking high on the considerations, you can actually go the distance. There’s a flattering v-cut top line and a luxe black suede upper. If you’ve been wanting to experiment with some of the ballet silhouettes but want to keep it modern and timeless, the Mariah is an ideal shoe that’ll tick all the boxes when it comes to pulling an outfit together.
