Keep the paparazzi double-guessing with these oversized, dramatic square frames we're adding to our lust lists.
Collette Dinnigan’s latest eyewear collection in partnership with Specsavers lifts the heat straight from the Italian Riviera. They’re glamorous, they’re capacious, and they’re having a complete moment.
This collection is particularly special for two reasons; the first being that Specsavers is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first collaboration with Australian fashion designer Collette Dinnigan; and the second being that this limited edition eyewear range has arrived just in time for our spring/summer soirees.
Featuring one optical and two sunglass styles, this collection fuses Collette Dinnigan’s signature intricate detailing with timeless European elegance for an Italian Riviera-inspired range that oozes icon-status. Oversized shades may have had their time in the sun on the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Elton John, Nicole Richie, and even modern muses like Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour, but their future is looking bright with these contemporary iterations.
A decade of style: Collette Dinnigan x Specsavers limited edition collection
Our favourite style from the collection has to be the Collette Dinnigan Sun RX 38 in cream ivory. Partially crafted from renewed acetate which is a more earth friendly acetate, these sunglasses feel deco and decadent. True to Collette Dinnigan’s style identity, there are diamante crystals and her bee motif on the temple tip. Oh, and bonus, these sunglasses have been designed as a matching set with the optical frame.
The optical option features oversized soft-square frames in transparent grey and cream ivory with a mother of pearl look. Fun fact: the stripe detail on the frame is inspired by the art deco architecture from the era of the Italian Riviera.
For the classic femme fatale’s among us, you can’t overlook the Sun RX 38 in black (pictured below). These oversized square frames in glossy black make a sophisticated statement. Similarly to the cream ivory variation, there are embellished details and Collette Dinnigan’s bee motif on the temple tip for added glam.
Making history
Dinnigan’s unique style and dedication to craftsmanship has earned her numerous accolades and a special place in the hearts of Australians and Kiwis (Dinnigan spent over half of her childhood in New Zealand) who appreciate the artistry of fashion. The longstanding partnership with Specsavers reflects the success of Dinnigan’s designs in the eyewear industry, and – perhaps most importantly – making a little luxury accessible to wear everyday.
In a time of fast-moving collabs, cancel culture, and fickle loyalty, approaching 10 years in partnership is a testament to both Collette Dinnigan’s enduring design vision and Specsavers dedication to provide fashion-conscious individuals the opportunity to sample trends – in this case, the Italian Riviera – at an affordable price point.
