Kowtow unveils its new season range, Somm gives us something to sip, Dermaceutic gives our skin a much-need boost, and more.

1. The south’s finest

With the arctic blast that’s been sweeping through Tāmaki Makaurau as of late, it certainly feels like a good time to cosy up inside with a glass of red or two. And thanks to the latest offering from Somm, you’ll be able to do exactly that. From the 1st of August to the 17th of September, the newly-opened hotspot will be hosting its first ‘Guest in Residence’ – an exclusive wine-tasting experience for those who favour drops from Aotearoa’s deep south. First on the agenda will be a range of bespoke wine flights from Mt Difficulty, where you can take your pick of single vineyard wines, a selection of vintages, or explore central Otago’s sub-regions, all while sampling some gourmet delights from a set menu by Somm’s executive chef, Gavin Doyle. For $35 per person, you can satisfy your palate with a glass of Roaring Meg and a choice of either market fish crudo, potato, truffle, and smoked brie pizza, or confit duck leg with Parisian gnocchi. For the true oenophiles out there, an intimate cellar door tasting of Mt Difficulty’s different varietals and rare library vintages will also be available on the 19th and 20th of August hosted by Chief Winemaker, Greg Lane.

If all that wasn’t incentive enough to make a booking, visit Somm before the 17th of September and you’ll have the chance to win a dream Queenstown holiday for two, valued at $11,000.

2. Spring is a knocking

There’s a lot of simple pleasures we take for granted each day, but Kowtow’s new collection isn’t one of them. Designed as an ode to moments of sensory delight, the ‘Simple Pleasures’ collection invites you to immerse yourself in the visual, textural, auditory, flavourful, and aromatic treasures of the natural realm with a colour palette inspired by the ocean and flowers in bloom. Using Kowtow’s signature Fairtrade organic cotton, each piece is made to be worn and lived-in, lasting you a lifetime as sartorial staples. From the baby-pink double denim set that evokes the feeling of biting into a soft marshmallow, to the Flowerbed Vest that reminds us of our grandmother’s intricate garden, this collection bears the hallmark of devoted craftsmanship and intention.

3.  Sitting court side

Following the success of their previous two collaborations, ASICS and PE.Nation have joined forces again on a new 20-piece court-inspired capsule collection. Combining ASICS’ iconic sportstyle aesthetic with PE.Nation’s technicolour streetwear aesthetic, this third collection is designed to look good both on and off the court. Featuring both men’s and women’s apparel, there’s also a limited number of ASICS basketball-inspired EX89™ MT sneakers too. “For us, this collaboration fits back with the P.E Nation ethos: a technical activewear brand built for the streets,” says P.E Nation co-founders, Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning. “It highlights the synergy between ASICS and P.E, too, in terms of aesthetic approach and sharp focus on sustainability.” With hero pieces such as skorts, cycle shorts, leggings, zip jackets, and sports bras available in the collection, you can inject your wardrobe with a little athletic-chic.

4. Mass a peel

Dermaceutic, a leading French beauty brand distributed by Dermocosmetica, embodies the French perspective on Aesthetic Dermatology. With a focus on scientific expertise, the brand utilises its Skintelligent Science approach to enhance and nurture the skin’s innate abilities, partnering with over 30,000 skincare professionals in 80+ countries. Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary globally and now present in New Zealand and Australia for 8 years, Dermaceutic’s Founder and CEO Nicola Faguoli recently visited New Zealand and introduced us to the world of chemical peels and just how effective they can be. Following some breathtaking case studies and a live demonstration, we went home to trial some of their post-procedure products – and so far we are loving the results. Our top picks? The K-Ceutic Post Treatment Cream, $93.60, Derma Lift 5.0 RRP $140.40, and the Sun Ceutic 50+ , $88.43.

5. Kick up your heels

While it may feel early for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere to be planning our wardrobes for spring and summer, in reality we are only a few short weeks away from the start of spring. With this in mind comes Mi Piaci’s latest collection for SS23, titled ‘The Echo’, a range inspired by the allure of the incoming warm weather. With a dedicated palette of sorbet-brights and captivating prints, you’ll feel inspired to chase the sun while putting your best foot forward.
