Just as our sartorial selections and beauty rituals influence how others perceive us, so too does our choice of fragrance. As one of our main senses, associated with memories and emotions, smell possesses the ability to transport us to far-flung destinations, make us think of certain friends or family members, or recall moments in time.
When it comes to fragrance, some prefer to curate a diverse scent wardrobe to keep in rotation, while others opt for a singular signature scent that encapsulates their unique personality and identity. Finding just the right one can be a tricky feat, but as those of us who have dedicated signature scents know – once you find it you’ll never let it go.
If you’re seeking inspiration for your next fragrance purchase, or simply curious about what the FQ team wears, read on as we reveal our signature scents.

“I had been desperate to get my hands on a bottle of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille for years before I actually bought it – but the price tag always gave me reason to pause. However, last year I was given a voucher from Mecca from some friends so I decided to splurge. I now (most contentedly) wear it most days and love how this cognac-laden aroma (mixed with tonka bean, vanilla, cocoa, and sweet wood sap) smells so opulent and indulgent all at once. I pray daily that there is still some left in the bottle!”

“They say when you’ve found your signature scent you cease to smell it on your skin. Fortunately for me, I have a few in my repertoire that have true staying power and can always be traced on the inside of my wrists and deep into the lapels of my winter coats. My day and evening fragrance personas differ quite significantly and yet they layer superbly. Currently for daytime I reach for Abel’s ‘cyan nori’ which offers sweet, salty, and serene freshness anchored by a plant-based musk and hints of tangerine. For evening, I add depth with a spritz of Maison Margiela Replica Coffee Break EDT where notes of orange flower, coffee, and a warming blend of sandalwood and cedarwood melt into the skin. Sublime!”

“Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540 is a captivating and luxurious fragrance. Its enchanting blend of saffron and jasmine creates an irresistible and alluring scent that is both sophisticated and memorable. With the addition of cedarwood and ambergris, it gains depth and complexity, developing beautifully on the skin once sprayed. Baccarat Rouge 540 is a fusion of floral and woody notes that leaves a lasting impression. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a distinctive and unforgettable signature fragrance.”

“My signature scent has changed so much over time. The first fragrance I truly resonated with (and wore religiously) was none other than ‘Fantasy’ by Britney Spears, and though I wouldn’t wear it now, it holds a very dear place in my heart. As an adult, I’ve come to adore most fragrances by Tom Ford, but Lost Cherry is indisputably my favourite since discovering it several years ago. It has a boozy cherry-almond aroma that, though powerful, has a beautiful dry down to reveal its subtler woody and floral notes. Each time I wear it I’m transported to a dimly-lit bar where I’m wearing all-black and sipping a Manhattan cocktail. Sometimes after wearing it out at night I catch whiffs of it on myself in the morning – a true testament to its staying power. Though it’s not the cheapest signature scent I’ve ever owned, a little goes a long way with this one.”

“More than just a fragrance, Abel’s Pause is a revitalising perfume created with the intention of restoring balance and centering the mind and body – the perfect start to my morning routine. Boasting notes of violet leaf, mimosa and narcissus, this scent combination is perfect as my year-round everyday signature. A spritz not only prepares me for the day ahead, but gives me a subtle reminder to pause throughout the everyday hustle.”

“Rarely does the house of Chanel unveil a new fragrance, but ever since the moment they introduced Coco Mademoiselle in 2001, I’ve been obsessed. The first time I sprayed it on my skin it worked a magic like no other perfume I’d ever tried up until that point, lifting my spirit with its intoxicating scent profile. Despite a few attempts to change fragrance, I’ve always gone back to this fragrance over the past 22 years. The subtle mix of citrus, jasmine, bergamot and turkish rose makes this perfume unique and perfectly balanced.”
