There’s nothing like an awards show to get us excited about a red carpet. As we eagerly anticipate the finale of the awards season with this year’s Oscars, The 2023 BAFTAs have delivered us an assortment of bold looks. With a star-studded guest list in attendance, the red carpet looks ranged from classic monochromatic glamour to feathered and flamboyant.
We’ve rounded up the most striking looks from this year’s red carpet to feast your eyes on.
Florence Pugh in Nicci Ricci by Harris Reed and Tiffany & Co
While monochrome was a popular choice for many stars at this year’s BAFTAs, leading-lady Florence Pugh’s floor-length bright orange gown was a stand out among a sea of black and white. The Nicci Ricci by Harris Reed gown struck the perfect balance between sexy and elegant, achieving just the right amount of sheerness through the skirt. Complemented flawlessly with a selection of Tiffany & Co pieces and a Y2K-style up-do, Pugh was undoubtedly a head-turner.
Sophie Turner in Louis Vuitton
Continuing on with the sheer trend, actress Sophie Turner was a vision in this bejewelled dress by Louis Vuitton. Shining atop a sheer long-sleeved lace dress were an intricate assortment of teardrop and flower-shaped embellishments, each in a different colour. Oozing glamour head-to-toe, Turner polished off her perfect ensemble with a selection of colourful chunky jewellery.
Anya Taylor-Joy in Schiaparelli and Tiffany & Co
It comes as no surprise that Anya Taylor-Joy has made it into FQ’s best dressed list for the BAFTAs, having featured in our look round ups from previous red carpets such as the Venice Film Festival and 2022 Oscars. The actress is no stranger to a bold look, donning a full velvet ensemble this time designed by Schiaparelli, which featured a structured mini dress and floor-length matching cape. And of course, the icing on the cake, a loop necklace of diamonds by Tiffany & Co.
Lily James in Tamara Ralph
Making a statement in a bold couture look was English actress Lily James. Featuring a plunging strapless neckline with an embellished ‘spider web’ detail, the Tamara Ralph gown was a structural masterpiece. Cut from a sleek white satin, James’ look was reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour, topped off with a slick up-do and diamond earrings.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci
There is so much to love about this look from Jodie Turner-Smith. Wearing a floor-length Gucci gown featuring a collection of floral appliqué, sequin mesh and feather layers, Turner-Smith also wins ‘best of beauty’ thanks to her Swarovski crystal bejewelled cheeks and striking cat-eye.
Sheila Atim in Prada
If there’s one thing we’ve picked up on from this year’s BAFTAs red carpet, it’s that gloves are very much in. Dressed in a stunning pair of metallic silver gloves to match her Prada gown and Chopard jewellery, Sheila Atim was a literal star on the red carpet.
Gwendoline Christie in Giles Deacon
Forget LBD, the Game of Thrones actress was all about the volume at this year’s BAFTAs, wearing a gothic-style ruffle-tiered black dress with PVC contrast detailing. Amidst the ruffles, Christie also donned a leather belt to cinch in her waist and provide a hint of drama to the high volume ensemble.
Kate Middleton in Alexander Mcqueen
We couldn’t not mention Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, on this list. Stepping out in a upcycled Alexander McQueen dress (we love to see it) which she wore to the BAFTAs in 2019, Middleton levelled up her look with added drapery to the shoulder and a pair of sleek black opera gloves. The classic silhouette of the McQueen dress contrasted with her black gloves made for a truly royal affair.
Hoyeon Jung in Louis Vuitton
Yet another dazzling metallic look came from Squid Games actress and model, Hoyeon Jung. Looking like the belle of the ball, Jung’s strapless gold dress hailed from Louis Vuitton, which she paired with a diamond choker and red lip in true Hollywood style.
