From Rock to Red Carpet: Inside the Captivating World of a High Jewellery Maison

A new documentary film reveals Italian luxury jewellery designer Bulgari’s century-old secrets. Here’s why we’re adding it to our watchlist (and you should too).

Revered Italian high jeweller Bulgari has been adorning the world’s elite since its inception in 1884. For the first time in its 138-year history, the iconic luxury jeweller has given us behind-the-scenes access to its elusive process, revealing how their precious stones are discovered, conceptualised and crafted into the masterpieces admired around the necks of celebrities such as Zendaya or Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Guided by creative director Lucia Silvestri, documentary film Inside the Dream takes viewers on a stunning tour of Jaipur, India where the precious stones are sourced, through to the maison’s headquarters in Rome, Italy showcasing how the designs are brought to life through exceptional craftsmanship.
Premiering earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival, this unprecedented look into Bulgari’s creative process demonstrates the luxury brand’s evolution and our enduring fascination with all things breathtakingly beautiful.

“What is inside this box? I usually have no idea what’s inside,” muses Zendaya in the documentary film’s trailer.
Spoiler alert: It’s the Serpenti Hypnotic Emerald necklace which houses a 93.83 carat Colombian cabochon-cut emerald set with diamonds and emeralds. And just one of the masterpieces we see evolve over a year long journey under the meticulous care of Bulgari in the documentary film.
Alongside Zendaya, we see Italian digital entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni (the original It-Girl and influencer), BLACKPINK singer Lisa Manoban, supermodel Lily Aldridge, and U.S.-based Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas share their personal and inspiring stories while interacting with the jewellery maison’s mesmerising pieces across a score of secret locations in Rome.
This cast of multifaceted women united over a mutual magnetism for stunning jewellery nods to the brand’s play towards diversity and inclusion with Silvestri at the helm. Having learnt her business directly from the Bulgari family, Silvestri has steadily made her way into the male-dominated industry and cites Rome as an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
As the name so aptly suggests, Inside the Dream uncovers Bulgari’s creative process of bringing their designs from imagination to magnificent reality and inviting you to bear witness to how the magic happens.
