From the runway to the wardrobe, indulge in the season's best adornments.

Versace autumn/winter 2022 ready to wear.

When it comes to elevating an outfit, accessories are a must, and this season’s runways have indicated the trends we can expect this winter. There are reimagined essentials and vampy Y2K pieces aplenty, from the enduring baguette to fabulous platform heels.

Scroll on to make a statement with Fashion Quarterly’s edit of the best six accessory trends for winter.

1. Pearl-adorned jewellery

Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti ‘Pearls by the Yard’ bracelet, POA.

Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Sweet Alhambra’ earstuds, POA.

Reigning supreme on the runways this year is a modern take on a timeless classic: pearls. From Givenchy to Versace, multiple designers featured pearl accessories in their autumn-winter collections. While we love a traditional pearl necklace à la Audrey Hepburn, dynamic cuts, diamonds, and gold detailing will take your pearl embellishments up a notch.

2. Baguette bags

Brie Leon ‘Mini Camille’ bag, $200.

Deadly Ponies ‘Mr Sling Micro’ bag, $579.

With the pint-sized bag making a comeback, ‘90s-style baguettes continue to dominate the season. The perfect size to fit your going-out essentials (phone, keys, and lipstick), look no further than the baguette to stay effortlessly chic.

3. Platform heels

Versace ‘Medusa Aevitas’ platform pumps, $2.300.

D’Accori ‘Belle glittered-leather’ platform sandals, $1,641.

Another Y2K trend to storm the runways this season is the platform heel. Re-popularised by brands like Versace, sky-high platforms are back with a vengeance. Pair them with tights for sleek evening dressing.

4. Silk scarves

Louis Vuitton ‘Mix and Straps Square 90’, $820.

Dark Hampton ‘The Petite Teutenberg’ silk scarf, $89.

While we typically associate scarves with warmth and winter, a silk scarf is possibly the most versatile accessory to have in your wardrobe. Silk scarves can be worn in a variety of ways, whether around the neck or handbag strap.

5. Leather loafers

Prada ‘Chocolate brushed’ leather loafers, $1,690.

Mi Piaci ‘Kate’ platform loafer, $280.

Whether you love or hate them, loafers are an enduring winter style and a staple for those who prioritise comfort and style. Pair them with a suit, oversized slacks, or a pencil skirt and tights as a daily go-to.

6. Fitted gloves

Balenciaga ‘Stretch’ gloves, $650.

Adrienne Winkelmann ‘Roxie’ glove, $399.

Dubbed the ‘it’ accessory for 2022, from opera gloves to adorable fur-trimmed iterations, you can’t go wrong with a sophisticated glove to add extra glamour to your look.
