While it’s so simple to don a bronzed eye or a slick black flick on your lids, why not take inspiration from the kaleidoscope to create a multicoloured, multidimensional look? Right now, it’s all about embracing vibrant shades in the beauty world, and there is no need to stop at just one. And while it sounds a little scary, it’ll be well worth it when you pull it off.
So, how exactly do you go about achieving this colourful look? Mecca Makeup educational lead Ashleigh Fenton says to firstly “select three complementary eyeshadow combinations”. Once you’ve got your colours, it’s all about how you apply it. “Pack each colour onto a different section of the eye, for example, the lid, crease, and inner corner.”
Fenton says the trick to making the look work is by packing the product using one brush and then using a clean brush to blend. “This is so each colour stays in the section you want, yet with a seamlessly blended finished look.”
For extra staying power, Fenton recommends first applying the Smashbox Eye Shadow Primer, and lastly, spritz with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
It’s certainly not an everyday look or as simple as choosing a one tone sweep of eyeshadow, but if you give it a go, you’ll be sure to create an eye-catching, showstopping look.

Tip: When opting for eyeshadow, choosing a palette with a selection of colours is your best bet, as generally, these tones are designed to work together.
