Presented by creative director Virginie Viard, the annual Chanel Métiers d’Art show is a showcase of the house’s fine craftsmanship and decorative techniques.

This year’s show doubled as a reveal for Chanel’s newest building, Le 19M, which houses its many ateliers, including embroiderers Lesage and Atelier Montex, hatter Maison Michel, pleater Lognon, and shoemaker Massaro. Aptly named, Le 19M references Coco Chanel’s birthdate — 19 August 1883 and the 19th arrondissement in which the building is located.

The Métiers d’Art collection is both metropolitan and sophisticated, with much of the intricate embroidery inspired by the structure of Le 19M itself. “It’s a vast, very open space, with a façade adorned with threads of white concrete, a garden, beautiful walkways, and a large gallery where exhibitions will also be held”, says Viard.

From tweed jackets with sweatshirt sleeves to voluminous purple and royal blue knit outfits, here are Fashion Quarterly’s favourite looks from the Chanel 2021/22 Métiers d’art collection:
