Chloe Zara, expert hairstylist and founder of premium hair product label Chloe Zara Hair, knows a thing or two about luscious and nourished hair. And seeing as we can’t get to the hair salon while we’re in level 3 lockdown, we asked Chloe to share her top five tips for maintaining our hair colour while we desperately wait for a coveted spot on our hairdresser’s chair.
Tip 1: choose a quality shampoo and conditioner
Keep your hair well hydrated in between salon visits. This will help to prolong your colour—locking in moisture means less colour fading. When it comes to a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, choose products with quality ingredients that will help build the health of your hair and prolong your colour.
Tip 2: double cleanse your hair and scalp
When you use shampoo, double cleanse your hair and scalp. This will remove product buildup and natural grease, and mean fewer washes throughout the week. Aim for 2-3 washes a week, rather than every day.
Tip 3: use a treatment masque
Use a nourishing treatment masque 1-2 times a week. This is key for healthy and hydrated hair, as well as locking in colour. You’ll see great results, especially for lighter hair.
Tip 4: use a heat protectant when using hot tools
When using hot tools, always use a heat protector to prevent breakage and dehydration. My Chloe Zara hair & body perfume oil is a great way to protect hair from heat, and leave it looking smooth, soft, and shiny.
Tip 5: don't colour your hair at home
Never colour your hair at home in between salon visits. If you need to cover greys or blend out blonde regrowth, use a temporary colour spray.
