Caitlin Crisp’s new collection has just launched and it’s the designer’s freshest offering yet. Simply titled ‘Season 5’, it features a tempting selection of beautifully cut pieces that combine romance and wearability.
Shot by photography duo Veronica Crockford-Pound and Joseph Griffen, the campaign stars local model Sakura Matches of 62 Management and her sister Yayoi— who has been overseas working and training as a ballerina, but is now back living in NZ and working as a fitness instructor.
“I always had in the back of my head that I wanted to work with Sakura, then my boyfriend mentioned he knew her and thought she’d be a great fit for the brand! After finding out her sister Yayoi was a ballerina we took them both out for a coffee and pitched the idea to them. They hadn’t worked together in this way before and were excited about it! It was a very fun day, they’ve both been incredible to work with from the start,” says Caitlin on the shoot casting.
Predominantly crafted from lightweight linen, a gentle colour palette of ivory, beige and soft pink is offset with the addition of black, as well as a picnic-esque gingham print. Silhouettes are an evolution from Caitlin’s previous offerings, an easy array of both dresses and separates that take the fuss out of trans-seasonal dressing.
“My passion for design and sewing all started with dance and costume. I started ballet when I was four and was training 6-7 days a week by the age of 12. I always loved costumes and performing. I think it definitely still comes through in my designs in matching outfits, frills, bows and ballet pink!” says Crisp.
Standouts include the sweeping ‘Darling’ dress, and the ‘Majorie’ blazer which makes a polished spring combo when paired with the co-ordinating ‘Voyage’ shorts.
