With New Zealand once again in lockdown, and the hotly anticipated return of New Zealand Fashion Week being put on hold until further notice, why not look to the runways–and streets–of Copenhagen Fashion Week for a heady dose of optimism?
Stylish Scandinavians were out in full force last week in Denmark’s capital, with an array of delightful shows from the likes of Ganni, Samsoe Samsoe and Baum und Pferdgarten. Not to mention joyful displays from the street style set, including neon brights, Y2K vibes, barely-there crochet dresses and swimwear worn in lieu of separates.
In the hopes of adding a dash of sartorial optimism to your day, read on to discover some uplifting styling tips that are, most of all, about having some fun.
Business up top, party down below

Dopamine dressing
By now you’ll have caught wind of the power that colour therapy can play when it comes to sartorial choices—the more vibrant a hue, the more potential it holds to uplift. So it comes as no surprise that a kaleidoscope of neon brights were sported by Copenhagen’s street style set.

Hit the hay
Copenhagen may be currently free of any lockdown restrictions, but that didn’t stop Helmstedt from putting on a show in celebration of all things sleepwear—providing plenty of inspiration for those currently at home in bubbles. We’re particularly fond of pastel shades, slouchy cuts and fun prints when it comes to pyjamas, so chic they might just pass as daywear on your next supermarket jaunt.

Squares of joy
Silky scarves tied bandana-style were a hot ticket item—both on and off the runway. To tie, start by folding your square in half diagonally, then position the longest side around your head where you would like it to sit, tie both ends to meet at the back of your head and then tuck the point into the knot. This slinky accessory also doubles as the perfect solution for when your hair washing routine has strayed from the norm.
