1. Milk Makeup has landed in NZ
The highly sought-after, New York-born beauty brand has touched down in Aotearoa, available exclusively at Sephora.
As a brand that challenges the outdated one-size-fits-all approach to beauty, Milk Makeup has fast gained a cult following, thanks to the product offering that is clean, vegan and cruelty-free — not to mention the super sleek packaging and expansive colour spectrum.
“Since our inception, we have always championed “beauty for all” and our products are designed to be used by everyone. 2. Maggie Marilyn x Mercedes-Benz
With a shared commitment to championing sustainable change, Maggie Marilyn has joined forces with Mercedes-Benz New Zealand.
As leaders of their respective industries —Maggie Marilyn in fashion, and Mercedes-Benz in automotive innovation — the partnership celebrates the unique parallels of their leadership. Driven by innovation and technology, the pair are equally embarking on a concerted effort to leave behind a better planet for the future.
The Maggie Marilyn brand was founded with a desire to create “transparent, circular, regenerative and inclusive” fashion for consumers who are increasingly influenced by the impact their consumption habits have on the health of the planet. Similarly, Mercedes-Benz, via its Ambition 2039 program, strives for a holistic approach in sustainability — including investing in the creation of a “circular economy”, via closed material cycles, more efficient processes and an increased share of recycled materials across the entire product portfolio.
Watch this space — Maggie Marilyn and Mercedes-Benz New Zealand will soon be releasing shared events and content designed to build and educate a community with mindful and sustainable business at the forefront.
3. Silk & Steel’s Revival
Fans of local jewellery brand Silk & Steel rejoice! This week sees the launch of Revival, a collection which revisits the brand’s roots to relaunch its top selling hardware designs from past collections.
Revival embodies Silk & Steel’s classic, yet luxuriously modern aesthetic — core pieces such as the ‘Assigned to Danger’ curb chain necklace are complemented with new adornments like the ‘Matriach’ pearl earrings, and the ‘Riviera’ hoops.
And in true Silk & Steel style, #FQ loves the ‘Honesty’, ‘Super Cross’, and ‘All for One’, seed bead bracelets, worn separately or stacked, they’re the accessible accessory you need to enhance your everyday look.
4. Volume 3 by Benjamin Alexander
This week, Benjamin Alexander releases Volume Three of his eponymous label — the brand’s third collection since its inception in 2019 — following Alexander’s Project Runway win in 2018.
The new collection takes on a glamorous, yet simultaneously pared back approach. In a two-toned palette of black and white, Volume 3 displays an array of silhouettes and structures — think figure hugging, cut-out knits, combined with wool tailoring, and cotton-silk blousing. And it wouldn’t quite be a Benjamin Alexander collection without volume — the lighter knits and sheer textures are juxtaposed alongside 100% cactus-derived vegan-leather pieces, creating the balloon sleeves and ruffles that are synonymous with the brand.
The long-time friend of FQ (and former Fashion Quarterly Fashion Stylist) has carved a path that is uniquely his, with a vision to build considered practices within the luxury fashion market — championing transparency and education around the effects of design on our planet. 5. Tame and Sculpt with Aesop
A long weekend and drop in temperature provides the perfect opportunity to indulge in a little pampering. Fortunately, Aesop have just launched Tame & Sculpt — a duo designed to combat the element’s effects on the hair.
Tame Hair Serum is a lightweight hair serum formulated to gently corral and smooth the hair, with the added bonus of petitgrain, bergamot rind and patchouli to energise the sense with a fresh, citrus and floral aroma profile. For those wanting to impart a little more shine and structure to the hair, Sculpt Hair Polish is a lime, bergamot rind, and clove bud-based grooming gel which delivers shape and hold, with a warm and clean scent.
At the heart of Aesop’s extensive offering is its hair care range. Established in 1987 by Dennis Paphitis, Aesop’s first foray into the beauty industry was through the creation of hair products, with a focus on a calming and mindful experience — using essential oil blends — in Paphitis’ Melbourne hair salon.
