Summer beauty kit: What to wear when it feels like 100 degrees

Did someone say hot girl summer?

We may ask a lot of our summer beauty kit, but these secret weapons all perform exceptionally and require little thought once applied… because there are more pressing matters to attend to, like clinking cocktails or repositioning the sun umbrella.

So here are some of our favourite products that have seen us through the hottest months and are full proof when it comes to make up that doesn’t feel like it’s sliding off your face when it gets over the 27 degree mark.

Bondi Sands Glo Lights in Bronze, $25.

Even if you pare back the makeup in summer, highlighter is likely to be one of the last products to be ditched. You could wear this makeup debut from tan experts Bondi Sands and easily forgo all else.

Post-beach skin gets a long, cool drink with this oil that’s feather-light and touch-dry in no time at all.

The pigment intensity of a liquid lipstick
but without the need for precision application or ongoing surveillance. Just colour and go.

Tan Blender, $33.

Category: Great fake-tan inventions of the decade. Okay, tan eraser probably takes the win, but this glue-stick-like gradual tanning balm that helps minimise streaks and missed spots comes a close second.

Invisible Zinc Sheer Defence Tinted Moisturiser SPF50, $26.

Zinc is great for those with sensitive skin, but notoriously hard to formulate without being paste-like. This tint masks any white cast and blends well into skin.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Paint-On Liquid LipColor in Poppy Sauvage, $63.

If your summer style still involves statement red, you’d be hard pressed to find a more perfect hue. It’s saturated with pigment, feels invisible on and sets to a chic velvet finish.

Byredo Sundazed EDP 50ml, $236.

Hot girl summer, bottled. Read: bright citrus, neroli and sweet cotton candy on warm skin.

Oribe Signature Moisture Masque, $98.

Apply to wet hair and scrape back into a bun before hitting the beach. Rinse it out before heading to dinner and congratulate yourself for retaining long, shiny and tangle-free locks.

Lanolips Tinted
Balm SPF30, $18.

The two areas most commonly missed with SPF? Doctors tell us its ears and lips. We can’t suggest you put this on the former, but your pout sure will look lush, while combating dry flakes and ageing lip lines.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel, $84.

This bronzer has achieved cult status among makeup obsessives for good reason. Buff on the cream-gel bronzer with a dense brush for a believable, long-lasting golden bronze devoid
of spangle.

Elizabeth Arden Great 8 Eight Hour Daily Defense Moisturizer, $69.

Multi-taskers are necessary space savers but rarely do everything well. This one bucks the trend. Even devotees of a several-step skincare routine rave about it.
