Bucket hats

Whether the look is casual and sporty or super sweet, bucket hats have been everywhere recently – particularly at trend-setting Copenhagen Fashion Week. A fresh, eye-catching accessory, a bucket hat adds a sense of nonchalance and laid-back cool – so we expect to see a few of these around.

Square toed heels

Blame Bottega Veneta or the 90s resurgence, but regardless angular square toes are making a huge comeback – and we couldn’t be happier. We predict we’ll see these in all styles of footwear, paired with everything from romantic dresses to oversized tailoring and vintage denim.

XL suits

Whether it’s holiday vibes à la Jacquemus, or a super minimalist ode to #oldceline, super-sized suiting has been huge overseas (literally), and we’re anticipating some of our local style setters to channel 80s power dressing.

Floral dresses

Call it the Ganni effect, or maybe we’re all just excited to see the new Little Women film, but floral dresses have been enjoying exceptional momentum the past few months. Plenty of local labels have explored nostalgic florals in romantic cuts, while others are wading into the weirder waters of unexpected colour combinations and abstracted blooms. Both a great layering piece for Auckland weather, and a stress-free one hit wonder, we expect a few of these front row at fashion week due to their eye-catching appeal.

Blazers

A fashion favourite, blazers have been everywhere recently – paired with bike shorts, denim and everything in between. Proportions have become more bold, and fabric choices have too. This item has long been a favourite of New Zealand’s style stars (think Beck Wadworth and Jaime Ridge), and is perfect for transeasonal Auckland weather, so we’re expecting to see some front row and streetside.

Statement sunglasses

The easiest way to look chic and cool, sunglasses are a necessity at fashion week – and the bolder the better! Coloured lenses and cat-eye frames are still super popular (not to mention major street-style bait) so we’ll be seeing plenty at fashion week.
