We asked a few of our favourite salon owners to open up their bathroom cupboards and give us a peek at their night-time beauty rituals.

Jackie Smith
Founder of Caci

I have worked in the skincare industry for 25 years and adore the novelty of new products. I just can’t help buying new ones to try, especially whenever I travel or discover a new brand. However, I also know that there are two things that form the basis of a really good skincare regime and that those two small things, done consistently over a lifetime, make the world of difference: Cleanse your face in the evening and put sunscreen on in the morning, every day.

At night I cleanse with the Skinsmiths Gel Cleanser, using our Skinsmiths Muslin Cleansing Cloth. Next, I mix a puff of Skinsmiths Vitamin C Booster with a few pumps of our Skinsmiths Hydration Booster. Finally, I’ll finish with Skinsmiths Daily Moisturiser.

Skinsmiths Hydration Booster, $82, Skinsmiths Daily Moisturiser, $66, Skinsmiths Gel Cleanser, $46, Skinsmiths Daily Defence Sunscreen SPF 50, $49.

It starts with cleansing, ALWAYS! No matter how late or how many sins committed. I use an eye makeup remover to ensure the fine, delicate skin around my eyes has the best chance of staying smooth for as long as possible. My go-tos are Pure Fiji Cleanser, Clarins Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover or Environ Pre-Cleansing Oil.

My eye cream of choice is Environ Vita-Peptide Eye Gel, then I like to cocktail together vitamin A and C serums (Ultraceuticals or Environ), Pure Fiji Anti-Ageing Booster Oil and Youth+ Avance Elixir from Environ depending on how my skin is feeling that night. Finally, I’ll finish with a nourishing cream to lock in the moisture, often Ultraceuticals Rich Moisturising Cream.

Environ Youth EssentiA Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum 1, $249.50, Clarins Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover, $50, Pure Fiji Purifying Cleanser, $45.

I’m an oil fan and this is reflected in the majority of the products I use. I double cleanse using Decléor Essential Cleansing Milk first, then Aromatherapy Associates Soothing Cleansing Balm second. Decléor Soothing Micellar Water is my toner. I am currently using Joyce Blok Vitamin A followed by Joyce Blok Super Serum and then my Aromatherapy Associates Intensive Skin Treatment Oil. If I’m good, I apply my Joyce Blok Anti-Ageing Firming Eye Cream on my eye contour and also my mouth as a treatment balm.

After a particularly busy day I will apply a Joyce Blok Linden Refining Mask. I’ll enjoy a warm shower, apply Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Cream and then will generally sleep like a lamb.

The body repairs at night so I do take the time to ensure I am kind to my skin at the end of a busy day. I am fortunate to have some of the world’s most beautiful aromatherapy brands literally at my fingertips. I can honestly say I probably have the best job in the world.
