Trans-seasonal dressing at its best
It’s officially fall, or autumn as we know it, in The Big Apple RN, but with temperatures still reaching the mid-20 degrees, New York Fashion Week attendees are dressing accordingly, giving us the perfect outfit inspo for when our weather finally starts acting like it’s actually spring!
So what are the trends?
With significantly less Gs in sight (aside from the odd Gucci bumbag – yes, really), bloggers, editors and fashion icons seem to be dressing uniquely again. Thank goodness. But even so, like all fashion weeks, there are a few key takeaways to apply to your own wardrobe…
Marigold might have been the colour du jour at New Zealand Fashion Week, but the globe’s fashion elite seem to be painting the town red in NYC.
We’ve also noticed that corsets are still in but we’re officially saying ‘bye bye’ to big shoulder bags in favour of smaller, handheld options – preferably with a ring handle so you can slot your hand through to hold your champagne and ‘gram at the same time. Obvs.
Is Chloe the new Gucci? It seems to be so at NYFW.
Plaid garments appear to be big so make a note of that. And if you’re a bit of a magpie, get excited ’cause satin and metallic finishes are everywhere too.
Our favourite styling tip from the streets of New York though? If you want to show off your waist, forget hiding your belt; it’s time to make a statement by cinching it in over top your jacket or blazer. A bumbag will do fine too… provided it’s Gucci.
