Who’s that girl? Each week, we interview local up-and-coming influencers, It girls and future #bosses. This is Cassidy Morris, model, influencer and face of Leo + Be.
What is it like being the face for the debut campaign and collection for Leo + Be?
Being able to work alongside the LEO+BE team has been so fun. Jenny and Brenda are two amazing sisters with an incredible vision, and everyone involved in the shoot was so chilled so it meant we were able to get really creative. I felt very privileged to have the opportunity to be the face of the first collection.
Who is the Leo + Be girl, and how does it relate to you?
The Leo+Be girl is someone who is confident, isn’t afraid to be a little bit edgy and likes to have fun with her style! I love the versatility of the range and the fresh, youthful vibe it offers. I’m really excited to see people wearing the clothes and styling pieces in their own way.
Theeee best day shooting w/ the best team! @leoandbe 🍃

You were living in LA until recently. Why did you decide to go over there?
I absolutely loved LA the first time I visited on a family holiday. I immediately saw the potential to further my career state-side, so I jumped at the chance to move there when it come about.
Did you find the move overseas helped you to advance your modelling career and gain more experience within the industry?
Definitely. I feel like I wouldn’t be where I am in my career if I hadn’t have gone to LA. The potential over there is mind-blowing.
Why did you make the move back home to NZ?
I have a few ventures I’m pursuing currently, and also a few personal reasons.
What was it like for you when the media picked up on your connection to Kylie Jenner?
Because I was overseas I didn’t really pick up on it – I felt sorry for my friends and family that got the majority of the media attention!
What has been the most challenging aspect of your modelling career?
The critiquing side of the modelling industry is challenging. I learnt a lot about managing this during my time in the USA – it definitely made me tougher and taught me a lot about myself.
You have a really unique sense of style, who are your fashion icons?
The ultimate trifecta – Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid. I love flicking through fashion blogs, and of course Instagram. I love following people who inspire me to be a bit more adventurous with my style.
Who has been a person in your life that has helped you to keep grounded through all your publicity and ever-increasing influence on social media?
My parents.
What does it mean to you to be a millennial?
Opportunity! We are so fortunate to be growing up in a time where technology provides access to information and knowledge that we need for almost any pursuit that interests us – it’s almost overwhelming to try to focus on one path.
What is a piece of advice you would give to those who are trying to break into the modelling industry?
The power of social media is unreal, it has without a doubt helped me to grow my career. Being able to have a platform to share my modelling work is an entirely new territory for the industry. It’s also my tool for communication when I’m away from home, and I use it for inspiration when I’m in a new place to seek out the best local spots!
What are your career goals, or what are you working towards at the moment?
I have a lot of exciting things coming up so you’ll have to wait and see!
