Sound the alarm bells if you know someone who likes a long black

Coffee, the drink central to the energizing and revitalizing of many non-morning people has now been investigated in a study that shows some results that, to say the least, are slightly alarming. If you drink your coffee black, or know someone who does, listen up, because this one’s for you.

A recent study by researchers at the University of Innsbruck, Austria have proven that psychopathic traits and behaviour can be closely linked to those who consume black coffee.

The study, which surveyed over 1000 adults, asked participants for their their flavour and food preferences. These preferences were then aligned with personality tests for traits such as anti-socialism, sadism, psychopathy and narcissism.

The results, shocking to many, showed that those who enjoyed bitter foods, such as black coffee, celery, tonic water and radishes, were more likely to exhibit antisocial behaviour such as those listed above, than in those who don’t enjoy the consumption of these foods.

If you aren’t freaked out already, this isn’t the first study to be done that shows these, or similar results. Bitter tastes are known to increase anger and argumentativeness as well as impair proper judgement, as concluded by the study’s researchers Tobias Greitemeyer and Christina Sagioglou.

So, next time you’re out on a Tinder date over coffee, interview, or even with a GF for lunch, pay closer attention to their hot drink order.
You never know, right? Better safe than sorry…
