7 famous brides who wore Valentino

Nicky Hilton’s wedding to British banking heir James Rothschild at Kensington Palace on Friday couldn’t have been much further—geographically or symbolically—from the Vegas Wedding Chapel where she tied the knot with Todd Meister in 2004. The biggest upgrade of the day was obviously the dress, which was a far cry from the thigh-grazing, blue satin number she got hitched in first time around.

Following in the footsteps of a royal flush (or is that full house?) of European and Hollywood royals who were married in Valentino Couture, Nicky’s conservative yet oh-so-fashion choice caught our attention – so much so that we decided to take another walk down the aisle with some of our favourite Valentino brides.

  1. PRINCESS MADELEINE OF SWEDEN (2013)
No train mishaps befell Princess Madeleine of Sweden, who is seen here having hers adjusted following her wedding ceremony at The Royal Palace in Stockholm in 2013.

  1.  CROWN PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL OF GREECE (1995)
Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece wore Valentino to her Big, Fat, Royal, Greek Wedding in 1995.
  1. QUEEN MAXIMA OF THE NETHERLANDS (2002)
Queen Máxima of the Netherlands (then Maxima Zorregueta) married Crown Prince Willem Alexander of Holland in Valentino in 2002.

  1. JENNIFER LOPEZ (2001)
Back then she was singing that her Love Don’t Cost a Thing, but we imagine Jennifer Lopez might have spent a buck or two on the Chantilly-lace Valentino gowns she and her seven(!) bridesmaids wore at her 2001 wedding to back up dancer, Chris Judd.

  1. ANNE HATHAWAY (2012)
Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson’s characters famously fell out over a lilac-sashed Vera Wang gown in the flick Bride Wars. We think Anne would have been less willing to give up the fight if her custom, pink-dipped Valentino was on the line.

  1. JACKIE ONASSIS (1968)
Bonus bride: The definition of American Royalty, we couldn’t leave former FLOTUS Jackie Onassis and her quintessentially sixties, knee-length Valentino off the list. Jackie wore this look to marry Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis in 1968, five years after the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
