Glamping: the super fun, romantic and sometimes a little bit quirky go-to accommodation for those who love the outdoors, but aren’t always up for committing to a full-blown camping weekend.

We’re marching through the freezing finale of 2017. I mean surely the chilly temps cannot possibly get any worse?! Although we are seriously enjoying that winter luxe life (hello faux fur and dark bold lips), we can’t help but start to get a wee bit excited about catching up with the delight of spring and summer again!

There’s a comforting number of long weekends lurking around the warmer months, so what better way to get excited than by booking yourself and your BF or bestie a weekend away to go glamping? Just to fuel your wanderlust, we have tracked down our fave hidden gems throughout the country – ones that simply scream Insta-worthy!

1. Phoenix Valley, Tauranga

Surrounded by a forest of ferns, this is perfect spot to tie in a glamping/Mount Maunganui dream weekend! Phoenix Valley is so beautifully curated that it’s often booked out half a year in advance, so get in quick, babes. Kitted out with both an indoor and outdoor fire place, BBQ, and most importantly an outdoor bath accompanied by a rather impressive collection of candles, this spot is our number one dream glamping location!

2. Slipper Island, Coromandel

An absolute hidden gem. Who knew you could hop over to this super cute little island in the Coromandel on a 15-minute water taxi from Tairua? Slipper Island’s secluded beach is the romantic weekend of our summer dreams. Surprise bae for a weekend away complete with snorkeling and a kayak adventure, he’ll love you for it.

3. Pure Pod, Little River

A little different to traditional glamping, Pure Pods are solar powered glass pods that are located in beautifully remote destinations throughout NZ. Sounds pretty amazing, right? We’re lusting after the Little River location, just an hour out of Christchurch.

4. Underhill Valley Earth House, Waikato

Hello Hobbiton! You can now spend a weekend hidden away in this Waikato based, whimsical little earth house. This spot also has a super fun outdoor bath, a ridiculously cozy looking corner bed and is furnished perfectly with accents of brass and stone. It’s a fairytale lover’s dream accommodation and we’re totally getting Shrek’s swamp vibes, but we’re so into it!

5. Awa Tides, Kaukapakapa

Living in Auckland and don’t quite have the time to travel too far out? Awa Tides offers a total remote weekend glamping escape vibe, however, it’s conveniently located north west of Auckland so the travel time is minimal.

6. Te Puke, Tauranga

Bohemian lovers, this ones for you! Think a bright Persian rug, an outdoor crochet hammock, the Instagram lovers outdoor bath overlooking the ocean, surrounded by cacti and topped off with boho furnishings.. It’s the perfect spot to get those super earthy, yogi vibes that everyone is after right now. We’re obsessed!
