Fashion month is in full swing, gaining momentum in Milan thanks to a bevy of big name shows and notable faces taking over in true Italian pomp. Euphoria starlet Hunter Schafer caused a stir in a Prada tank top, Bella Hadid made a case for the return of Y2K glasses, and Kendall Jenner debuted a fiery new mane, while Chiara Ferragni made star nipple covers look like an easy feat.
Read on to discover five trends spotted both on and off the runway at Milan Fashion Week AW22.
1. New age nonchalance
Ladylike dresses and gloves that hinted at the 1950s were presented in a distinctly disheveled fashion. Think wet-look hair, peek-a-boo lingerie and cardigans that draped off the shoulder.
2. Solar power
Neutrals tend to be the failsafe option when it comes to outerwear, but the streets of Milan were beaming with cocooning coats in sunshine yellow — worn with two-piece sets, cat eye sunglasses and flirty bags.
3. Back to basics
Although seemingly the antagonist of Italian glamour, the humble white tank top stole the show — we doubt there was an Instagram feed that Hunter Schafer’s Prada outing didn’t appear on.
4. Dramatic effect
Never ones to shy away from being overdressed, you can always trust show-goers in Milan to bring a bit of drama. Feathers, lace, gloves, tiaras, oversized corsages, star nipple covers et al.
5. Top heavy
Flight jackets got the deconstructed treatment: made modern thanks to exaggerated sleeves, rounded silhouettes, clever zips and feathers.
