2. NEW ISSUE
Bricks and mortar retail has faced a tough time these past few years, which makes the opening of Standard Issue’s new Wellington store beyond special. Pioneers of the zero waste movement, this Aotearoa fashion icon is ever the quiet achiever, producing its premium knitwear – made from 100% renewable or recycled natural fibres and in limited runs to minimise overproduction – for well over 30 years. A fitting home for a brand steeped in heritage, you’ll find the stunning new store inside The Old Bank Arcade, fitted out by designers Wonder Group to feel “as untouched as possible” in honour of Standard Issue’s appreciation for raw and natural beauty.

3. AGE OF ENTIRE
Founded in 2020 by celebrity stylist duo Sebastian Hunt and Dylan Richards, Entire Studios is the latest New Zealand brand on everybody’s lips after picking up big name stockist Zambesi for its next drop of signature oversized puffer jackets and reworked utility staples. A nod to contemporary youth culture with their extreme proportions and adjustable drawstrings for styling a multitude of ways, an Entire Studios piece is instantly recognisable, whether you tend towards a more neutral palette or are ready to roll through in the patent red cropped puffer, whose official colourway is the very on-brand ‘blood’.

4. POETRY OF PLACE
Sydney, Seoul, Los Angeles, Hong Kong – all must-visit destinations for discerning travellers as intrigued by fashion and food as they are arts, culture and architecture, and the starting point for Aesop’s Holiday Gift Kits, released this week. Containing thoughtful curations of synergistic products that also speak to the locales that inspired them (think Igneous’s Geranium Leaf body care duo, whose design recalls the singular stone façades of Aesop Pitt Street, Sydney), the products come wrapped in a recyclable sleeve that includes information about the architecture of the relevant store, as well as a playful guide to the area’s vernacular, for an immersive experience that’ll transport you somewhere new this Christmas.

5. A NIGHT WITH DUA LIPA
This week Fashion Quarterly was fortunate to be a YSL guest to Dua Lipa’s Auckland show. The Brit wowed concert-goers, not only for her hit tunes but also those leotards, and that luscious lengthy brown hair. While on the outside she appeared sultry, what became apparent throughout the concert was just how much fun she had with her backup dancers were having. There were roller skates, confetti, and just the bangers we all know and love. She certainly gave everyone a feast for the eyes, and ears. After belting out hit after hit (and many sparkling outfit changes later) she left the stage, and everyone wanting more. A true icon!
